Have you been accused of working for the government?

In other forums I have debated and discussed events in history with consparacy theorists and eventually they will ask me who I am working for or accusing me of being part of the consparacy.

Has it ever happened to you?

LOL, yes. All the time.

I don't mind, considering I really do work for the government*.

(*A small, relatively obscure branch of it, in a completely unrelated field, and in a foreign country no less, but the conspiracy is supposed to be really big after all, right?)

[Edit:] The nice thing is that I don't actually get cheques for spreading misinformation. That's sooo Cold War era. We do direct deposit now. :D

i do, kinda, as a defense contractor. so they're definitely my meal ticket, but i'm part of no conspiracy... that they've told me about.

I work for the government too. The UK government, that is.

Are we in on it too? I suppose we must be.

Dang! You government guys ARE all over the internet!!

Say, how can I get some of those government checks? If I'm going to be accused of being a government guy, I'd sure like to get some government checks for my efforts.

Not so much, being new around here. But I am contemplating (for the first time ever) becoming a government worker. It would be for a state government in the US, if it happens at all...

Step 1)
Visit the GLP forum (easy thing)
Step 2)
search a thread claiming a conspiracy (even easier)
Step 3)
Respond to that thread while thinking (quite easy for most of us)

Et voila!! You're being accused of working for the government.

GLP posters say I work for government. Also say I am fat, frustrated 100 kg American man :)

Wouldn't that have a nice ironic twist, very similar to the one at the end of the novel I Am Legend?

If you're essentially the only non-troll, then you are the troll, the misfit?

That's quite tempting, actually...

I'm working for the government too.

I've always felt a strong urge to go on forums like GLP and "play along". Either explaining that I'm not part of the conspiracy and I can give them insight, or tell them that I'm not part of the conspiracy but they are trying to silence me. Or even better: tell them that I'm new in my job and feel that some things aren't clean. I've never done it, but sometimes I get near of not being able to resist, because there is so much potential fun... but at the same time I feel it's wrong.

Like: I've just got this new job at the airport. It's computer support. But from where I work I can clearly see the planes being loaded. But from time to time, they'll fill some kind of liquid thing in the wings. I've once tried to ask what it was, but they told me that if I want to keep my job, I must not talk about it. Have you ever heard about it? Ooowww the voices in my head are threathening me... where did I put that tinfoil hat...

Don't forget to mention that the next day, when you showed up at work, your office was rearranged, the view blocked, and a video camera hidden somewhere to make sure you aren't peeking :)

Yes, I've been accused of working for the government.

But as a matter of fact....I do work for the government.

The Air Force :)

But I'm just a mechanic (http://ageranger.com/)....

Does teaching count?

I spread misinformation all the time...I call it Newtonian Mechanics :surprised

Technically I get my paycheque from the gubment but indirectly I suppose.

I've never been on GLP personally, I don't think I could handle the abuse...

Well, I get a Government check each month. But from the VA.

Darkhunter, I need to see you, my -60 isn't starting and the C-10 doesn't have cold air even when the -60 is working.

Darkhunter, I need to see you, my -60 isn't starting and the C-10 doesn't have cold air even when the -60 is working.

Usually the first thing I ask is "have you looked in the TO?" :)

Note: the following is off the top of my head without reference to the TO or CDC's.

-60:

What's you're last known source of power?

Assumtion: You've already checked the exhaust switch and wiring, batteries, and circuit breakers...

If not turning over, it could be either the bleed air or turbine start switch

If it turns over without the clicking, check the oil pressure switch, ignitor coil, and the lead.

If it is clicking, check for fuel (usually the peanut filter or crack pressure). Low batteries (or even just a dead cell in one) will let it turn over but not give it enough juice to accerate enough to take off on it's own.

C-10:

Historically we've had the most problems with the TC-1 turned too high and keeping the add-heat air going constantly (which will not let it cool), or too low and the coalescer freezing up (which will kill the airflow).

Also check for blown sloots and melted control air lines.

The above two cover about 90% of the problems with C-10s.

We have also had some froze turbine(s) which will also stop cold air production but not often (twice in four years which include a few deployments).

I'm the Darkhunter over on the AGE Ranger board too....

DINSTAAR!

I see absolutely nothing wrong with this. These people's minds are so screwed up, nothing you can post would make them worse.

One time I was arguing with some guy about something and he accused me of being a government agent, and I told him to go to my "personal website", here.....

http://www.bop.gov/

It scared him so much he left the message board and I never heard from him again.

Yep. I've been called a "disinformation agent", "paid debunker" (if anyone can tell me how to land that gig, please do -- I'll send a resumé ASAP)... and my personal favorite... "government spook". Yeehaw.

well, I just had a physical/x-rays today, so I should be getting the government checks relatively soon. (45 days for state disability, versus going on a year for federal with no money in sight.) but, no, I mostly get accused of being "blind" or some variation thereof. guess the people on the MythBusters board I used to frequent hadn't heard of paid disinformation agents.

They only pay me to debunk the government.

Yes! Debunking a 9/11 conspiracy theory someone told me I am trying so hard to debunk that I must be an agent of the government.

Now I play along, tell them I am a door gunner in the black helicopters

A thousand times, if not more.

Conspiracy theorists (AKA woo-woos) use this as a tactic of first resort whenever you confront them with contradictory evidence, or even ask them for supporting evidence.

I spent too much time at GLP, I guess.

Nancy Lieder's group of Zidiots published a survival guide that listed gypsum (calcium sulfate) as a good source of potassium. When I contradicted them, I was accused of being a paid gov't agent, and then banned.

Well...in a way I was working for the British Ministry of Defense. I was working on Astor at L-3/Greenville a few months so guess where that money came from.

Of course, on tt-watch the Fraternal Order of Drunken Sailors (FODS) is considered to be a bunch of government paid disruptors.

Oh well...now I'm essentially working for General Dynamics (oops! another government contractor).

Wow. That's better than people succumbing to the dihydrogen monoxide gambit.

I'm beginning to believe that we Americans should have, long ago, made progression in math and science a prerequesite for continued advancement in other basics, such as English. True, we do need our writers! However, has it occurred to anyone how more productive we would have been if we'd had half our current number of writers? Think of it - less newspapers to linger over lunch, less television to watch because of the lack of material, etc.

We'd have been more bored with the stuff that diverts us and in response would have committed ourselves towards that which is productive, such as science, technology, engineering, construction, design, management, etc.

Between my webpages debunking the Moonlanding Hoax Hoax and my standing up to Nancy's Planet X nonsense on sci.astro years ago, I've definetely been accused of working for the "Gubmit". Nancy even accused this atheist of being in cahoots with the Pope regarding Planet X - I thought that was pretty funny. Wait, I need to hide that Wormwood file a little better..... :silenced:
