And what a marvelous late summer we have had here in the Upper Midwest USA. Last day of summer yesterday and it was in the upper 80's. I've already got 4 gallons of red sauce in the freezer and the garden just keeps on producing.

What a dramatic change. 87 degrees on Wednesday, 39 this morning just before dawn. Feels good though - crisp, clean, and no bugs.

I spent my first autumn in Washington absolutely enraptured by everything. (we don't have fall in southern California. the leaves turn the same colour as the air, and that's about it.) ten years later, I still am. the one guarantee of my creative output is a poem every fall about how happy I am that it's fall.

Where I'm from, there is no Fall/Autumn. There's only Summer, Hot Summer, Summer, and Cool Summer. :D

Is there no sound more mournful or haunting than the sound of geese flying overhead in the dark of a cold, crisp autumn night signalling the fact that there's only about 4 weeks left in the golf season.

**sigh**

Someone around here didn't get the memo on this.

Sunday: Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 101. Heat index values as high as 104. Calm wind becoming west southwest around 5 mph.

Can I have some fall too please?
