AAAIIIIEEEE!!!!! RUN!!!!!

Ok, here's the real story.
I work at a TV station, and this is an actual shot of a spider that spun a web on the lens of our skycam that we use in our weathercasts. Notice he’s lunching on a fly that got caught in the web.

*rofl* That's pretty cool.

Does this mean that the Guess Who don't get to perform "Runnin' Back to Saskatoon" anymore? :)
I'd be interested in knowing what the standard weatherman pun was in response to this. "Yes, as you can see, folks, above downtown there is a very rare cumulus arachnidius at this time...expect scattered webbing and a 30% chance of falling fly carcasses this evening."

What's the red dots leading from the left to the right? Is that the flies death blood drag? OH, GROSS!
Moose

Probably just the web itself refracting/reflecting light like a prism. The red just happens to be pointing directly into the camera lens at those points, just strong enough for the camera to detect, but nowhere else.
AFAIK, spiders don't smear their prey. ;)

Calabash, the weatherman's reaction was pretty funny. He plastered himself against the green wall, looking like he was stuck in a web, then started saying, in a high-pitched voice, "Help me...help meeee..."
Candy the red spots as well as the green ones at the bottom are the results of drop-outs on the video tape. Those are faults on the tape that show up with much usage. They'd be barely noticeable when the tape was playing, but on the freeze frame they show up.

Bugs don't have red blood. They kinda have this bizarre yellow-green-ish goo.

I didn't even notice the dots at the bottom.
I couldn't take my eye off of the spider's area.
I wish you had a photo of the weatherman?
Oh yeah, thanks dakini for your bug guts analysis.

I couldn't find a photo of Vincent Price's head on the fly. I searched.
This is usually my reaction when finding a spider my accident. http://www.cosgan.de/images/smilie/verschiedene/p010.gif

Probably because Vincent wasn't the one who got mixed up with the fly.

Don't want to be a party pooper, but Camel Spiders (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camel_spider) aren't "real" spiders. Their order belongs to the class of arachnids (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arachnid), along scorpions and "real" spiders (Araneae (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Araneae)).

I don't care if they're "real" spiders or not; if I saw one of them anywhere near me, it would still FREAK ME OUT.
