I thought this was going to be an interesting movie... until I saw a few scenes that made me want to scream. Anyone else see this flick?
They claim in this movie that the natives couldn't see Captain Cook's ships because their experience didn't include something like that. What a crock! Does that mean that babies will never see their mothers for the same reason? Also, have you ever heard of this before? Not me... one would figure a moderately well educated person would know this incredible story.
They also claim that experiments have been conducted that showed a visible sized piece of matter in superposition. Again, I keep my eye on the latest in physics, and I'm sure we would have heard of this completely amazing development if it were true.
This movie has unfortunately attracted much attention and critical acclaim. It has enough hard science in it to cast a venier of legitimacy over it's metaphysical agenda. This movie will give lots of people bad ideas.

I'm confused.
Is "What the *BLEEP* Do We Know?" the name of the movie? I've not heard anything about it. Do you have a link?

I keep hearing about it.
From what I've heard the science is dubious at best.

The movie is hilarious. It's quite good, if you're willing to sit down and laugh at it. It was recommended to me by a friend. She said it was "interesting", and wanted to know my opinion on it.
Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What_the_Bleep_Do_We_Know%3F%21), of course, has a good writeup on it.
It's sort of a cross between a motivational film and pure BS. They tell you that the world is what you make of it, and then try to prove it by saying the word "quantum" over and over again.

I love how they misuse the greek alphabet in the title... it makes me want to take it seriously that much more.

Judging by the comments (see the url), those that took the time to write about it had very little good to say about it. I think it will fade away.........

you know, I'm learning more about these people all the time, as my neighbor's mom used to take classes at their compound. at the time, they made much of the fact that they were a school, not a religion. however, due to tax problems, they are now adamant that they're a religion, not a school.

Thanks for clearing that up. I liked the one review titled "The saddest thing I have ever seen"!
Sounds like a "must-miss" to me.

I dunno, if you're the type of person who likes picking movies apart for scientific accuracy it might be alright. One of my old roommates is a geology student and she and her geology friends would have nights where they'd gather and watch a movie and take it apart for all the innacuracies. I remember when they had one such party where they watched the Core.

I borrowed this movie out of curiosity and ended up watching it with my mother (very non-science person btw). She forced everyone in my house to look at it and recommended it to all of her friends. :| I must admit, the movie encouraged me to think 'out of the box' for about an hour, then I slipped right back in hehe.

If you want something that will make you 'think outside of the box'. Read Freakonomics by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner.
As for this, never really had any interest in it, seemed like a lot of wishy-washy woo-woo cruft.
