I suppose old posters, who have not been for a while, will get a shock when they receive an email in their in box.
just a quick poll.

I voted apple ... mainly because banana was misspelled! :)

I say that really really old posts should be resurrected, because the OP might be shocked to discover that s/he held very different views back then. Comparing what I think now with what I thought back then... well, it's like comparing apples and bannannas!

I have absolutely no problem with the "bumping" of old threads...
...having said that, I do have a problem when there are 10 or more bumped in a single day...
Just my opinion...

I occasionally bump an old thread because I see the spiders reading them. I was confused at first but now I get it. Spiders are spiders.

Nice to see you. I think it's been a long time.

Thanks. I've been busy. I'm on the net now to watch Wilma as it moves south of us. I'm catching up on threads and may do some more Thread Necromancing if one catches my fancy. ;)

That's good--I like that. Thread Necromancy, lol.
It doesn't bother me. It may be confusing when there's a bunch of resurrected threads at once, but I find some old threads interesting anyway...sort of "blasts from the past." In a perfect world, reviving a thread would be to add new or updated information, or just revisit a hot topic, but it's not a big deal to me as to the why. I can think of a bunch of threads that could be easily raised from the dead, and might be fun to do so.

There's a Wilma thread somewhere.
Anyway Wilma will hit Southern Florida as a Category 1 on Monday. The airport stations have evacuated 'til then. Expect 4-6 inches of rain and some flooding. Power most likely will be out.

It would be nice (if possible) to display the date the thread was created on the forum page, so that people could tell at a glance if a thread is recent or has been bumped.

It seems useful since the boards have merged, as there's stuff that's new to different posters and old to others if that makes sense.

Make it so, Administrators. Until then, I bounce. :)

I have to say, I don't really see the point to resurrecting a thread about a hurricane three years ago to comment on a current hurricane. Especially given that we've already got a thread about the current hurricane. I don't see the point to resurrecting a thread to comment that the BA said he'd be moving a thread to a forum that no longer exists since the board merger. I'm sure there are any number of threads that say they've been moved to fora that no longer exist since the board merger. However, since the thread in question was three years old, and since prior to its resurrection, the BA's comment was the last one in the thread, it's clear that it's not much of an issue.
Resurrecting a thread to post new information or to call attention to something important? Sure. But resurrecting a thread to "me, too" strikes me as pretty silly, whatever the reason given by the poster who does it.
