View Full Version : Monday's Large Prominence, 2005/12/12

There wasn't too much going on H-alphawise on Tuesday afternoon at ~19:00 UT but on Monday afternoon a fairly large prominence was present on the leading (western) limb of the Sun. A number of small prominences were visible on the trailing limb.
An image that a Spanish amateur astronomer captured using a 90mm Coronado SolarMax is posted at http://www.spaceweather.com/swpod2005/13dec05/Kremer.jpg
I made these observations with a 40mm f/10 Coronado PST and an 8-24mm Vixen Lanthanum LV zoom eyepiece.

Thanks, Dave. I don't mean to derail the topic by asking - perhaps a separate thread would be in order... - how do you like your PST thus far?

It worked for me despite the extra t.
Edit: well it did on the first viewing. I'll take the liberty of fixing Dave's post. :)

Since I purchased a PST in September of last year, it's been my most used telescope.
If you have any interest in H-alpha solar observing and don't want to spend a fortune, the PST is a true bargain.
I discovered the error in the URL on another forum but didn't get back here in time to fix it. Thanks for making the correction.

That says it all. Thanks.
