I was at Wal-Mart earlier looking for Transformers (so I collect toys - only the 1:24 scale ones that transform into models of real-world cars... yeah they are cool, and I'm a nerd)... yeah anyway I noticed they were selling the DS-2114ATS-TC and NGC-60TC by Meade for around $300, they look like good starter scopes and don't seem to be your regular "department store" stuff.
Just wanted to let you guys know
Here is a site with the scopes in question: http://www.meade.com/telestar/

Buy direct from Meade. Make sure you get a good eyepiece.

hansolo1,
Since you live in Lebanon, you may want to consider joining ASH (see http://www.astrohbg.org for further information) or the AELC (no web site). I belong to both of these clubs.

I'd get the 114mm (4.5") DS-2114ATS-TC, you could do some good observations and maybe a nice bit of astro-photography

i have heard of the astronomical society of harrisburg but half the year they meet in lewisbery which is a 2.5 hour drive for me, i am considering the berks county club as that is only about 40 minutes

If there is a Fry's Electronics store near you, check them out. They carry most of the Celestron line (up to the CGS1100!)

It's approximately 40 minutes driving time from the Lebanon turnpike entrance to the ASH observatory.
