WASHINGTON, Pennsylvania (AP) — Just to make sure there's no confusion about which team they are supporting in the Super Bowl XL, the mayor and council voted unanimously to change this city's name.

Welcome to Steeler, Pennsylvania.

The name change for the city of about 15,000 people south of Pittsburgh will last through Feb. 5, the day of the football game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Seattle Seahawks in Detroit.

"I know the folks in the state of Washington are rooting for the Seahawks, so we wanted to make sure everyone knows the city of Washington is fully in support of the Steelers," Mayor Kenneth J. Westcott told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Anyone sending bills, cards or letters should continue addressing them to Washington, however, because the name change is cosmetic and not recognized by the U.S. Postal Service.

"It's just a spoof until after the Super Bowl," Westcott told the newspaper.

In a show of support for the Seahawks, I am forcing my youngest daughter to use the nickname "Seahawk" until after they lose the Superbowl...
She is agreeable but advised me she will not answer to any question addressed to her with the name "Seahawk". This is fine with me as she never answers to her given name, either. :)

Go Seahawks!!! I got yer back!!

Hmm. I was just thinking of mentionning that in battles between knights and dragons, I inevitably cheer for the dragon.

Of course, that triggered some confusion, as teri's metaphor briefly battled with DS's handle for my dragon-fetish-like attention.

Which, of course, resolved itself upon the realization that Dragon is being used as an adjective to Star, Star apparently being the key word. Now, if he was named Star Dragon, on the other hand...

Oh well. ;)

Seahawks for the win.

Question, before I unsubscribe to this thread. Where is the Super Bowl this year? The guy I work with is just livid that I'm not trading him shifts next/this week. He flies in from Detroit, and he said all the seats are full due to the Superbowl.

Something you want to say bud?:D

Well, I added the "Star" so it would fit with Astronomy, so Dragon is the main word, it sounds weird "Star Dragon", other wise it would just be Dragon. I know it's kind of weird, but I love dragons, the art that is out there is amazing. "I for one welcome out new Dragon overlords"

I am looking forward to AMerica's Best Commercials on TV this weekend. I understand they will have some football teams on the field filling the gaps between the offerings. Here in Lansing, MI, less than 100 miles from the stadium, there is traffic. I don't think there are any hotel rooms east of here that are not booked. And Hotels are charging many multiples of the regular rate, and many not booking less than three day blocks.

Personally this is about as close to Detroit as I want to get.
