Coming from an idea I thought of in the creationist thread, what would finding ET life mean for the creationist argument?

It slaps them in the face, but then they would just say "Well, God made them too obv."
Which means it wouldn't change much.

What about if we met aliens that have clear records of their civilisation going back 10,000 years. What would this do to those creationists that believe the earth was created in 6000 BC or thereabouts?

Again, they would just keep changing the story untill it fits what they need. Sad really.

If it were some fossils, or microbes under a rock on Mars, they would probably say it was fake. If it were signals picked-up by SETI, they would say it was created by satan to fool us. If UFO's started landing everywhere, that would really blow their minds.
A few of the more rational one's, may be able to except the possibility that god would not create a universe with billions of galaxies and trillions of stars, and not put life somewhere else but here.

Exactly my point, well said.

What would this do to those creationists that believe the earth was created in 6000 BC or thereabouts?i do believe true creationists have already discounted existing evidence that contradicts the 6000 BC claim as either faked, interpreted incorrectly, or part of "God's Plan" (i.e. he built the universe with all these nifty old things to make it seem more real).
however, i see no reason they would not be able to adapt their view to see all beings as "God's Children" each with their own unique qualities and/or abilities. i think they would be forced to accept that upon creation of the universe, we (humans, earthlings, etc.) were not the only life put here.
dunno as i don't believe in creationism. guesswork at best.
