OK, this is a personality (or psychological) test that a friend of mine taught me some time ago. The test consists in answering a few questions, and with the answers given, I will give you your results. This test will tell you:

2.The personality you would like to have
3.The personality that others see in you
And a few more things.
1. Name three animals that you like most. Starting with the first most liked to the 3rd. And after each one give an explanation as to why you like them.
2. Imagine you are walking down a long long road and suddenly you come to a giant wall that blocks the road. What will be your reaction?
3. Imagine you are in front of and observing the ocean. What does it represent to you?

a) The Timber Wolf: A strong, sleek, powerful animal. Efficient hunters. Works with other wolves in its pack through a very well-defined hierarchy.
b) The Lion: Again, powerful, effective, quick, cooperative, and social. Also, there are the traits usually associated with the lion: nobility and royalty.
c) The German Shepherd Dog: You won't find a more loyal animal anywhere.
2) Climb the wall to see what's on the other side. I'm assuming there's no opening in the wall. If there's a door, I'd walk through it.
3) How vulnerable humans are. I have relatives who were Gloucester fishermen. I say were because some of them never returned from the sea.
4) Blue.

OK, By what I read I can tell you the following:
You show to be a very strong and efficient person. A person that is very social and that don't like the idea of loneliness. You are a person who usually enjoys being around people and family.
But, there is "something" in which you do not feel you are strong enough or efficient, something that you are just not satisfied with. But, by what I have read you don't have the need for that feeling because all the people around you see you as a very valuable, loyal person. Someone you can't find easily.
There is only one thing you showed to be weak in, and that was love. Why? that I cannot tell you.....;)
Blue is your favorite color because it goes perfectly with your personality. Why? Because the color blue always symbolizes loyalty.

3. Still a lot of mysteries in the world.

You show to be a person very sure of what you want. You don't like people who are not serious and you dislike even more people who don't take life seriously. You seem to like people who know what they are doing and it seems to irritate you when they don't. People see you as a hard person at times, but they also know that when you are treated right you respond softly and very affectionately.
You also show as a person always trying to figure out certain things in life and you will tend to get to the bottom of it until you have it figured. You will face and stand up to stressful situations, but with certain weakness and doubt and in those situations is where you would like to be much more stronger and efficient.
You also seem to not understand love. It seems confusing to you at times, but understandable in others.
Your favorite color is green because green symbolizes nature and is always considered a very serious color.

You show to be a person that if you are not receiving constant attention and affection you are not happy. You seem to want more out of life than what life is giving you. You also tend to want people to be much more open with you and you definitely don't like them fooling around.
People tend to see you as a very good friend, someone they can trust because you are always trying to lend a hand when possible, and you also look up to people with respect.
Before you are able to stand up to a stressful situation you have the need to know why first. And even then you tend face those situations in a very confusing manner.
There is one thing that you definitely don't have doubt in, and that is love. You are very sure of yourself when it comes to that and you show to really like it.
Your favorite color is red because red attracts attention and strongly symbolizes love.

Okay, I'll bite.
A.
1) Cats. Stealthy, graceful, independent, clever.
2) Falcons. They soar. They don't need much more reason for me to think they're spiffy.
3) Meeses. Because I find it funny to mispluralize their name, and the meeses don't get huffy if I do. Meese are pretty much invulnerable to Canadian winters, terrain, and can somehow run through trees without getting their antlers tangled. That's pretty cool.
B. Unless I'm just out for the exercise (in which case I turn back), I pick a direction and follow the wall. The wall knows where it's going after all, it's as reliable a guide as anyone else, and the problem doesn't suggest that I'm in a particular hurry to get anywhere.
C. Life. Not the way most people think of life, but that life itself has tides, eddys and currents. Life can carry anything you care to bring along to far off "places", or it can sink you in a random fit of pique. Utterly cold (my ocean's the North Atlantic), but teeming with life just under the surface. (I was born just off the Grand Banks, after all.) You can drift along, or you can set your sails and get somewhere so long as the wind's favorable. And if it's not, you can tack. Roundabout, but you'll get where you're going, eventually.
D. Green. Blue is a very close second. And actually, the range of blue-green mixes appeals to me most.

Oh I'm sure they will. I was referring to the "have it each way" style of the readings eg People see you as a hard person at times, but they also know that when you are treated right you respond softly and very affectionately.
It's a sort of "bet hedging" that I associate with cold reading - saying one thing and then immediately following up with the opposite ;)

I will meditate on your insightful analysis. But truly I am glad you are doing this at BAUT as I (previous post:"People who love the Difference) hope that intuitives will feel at home here as much as rationalists.
P.S. Under Astrophotography, I posted a clip of Stardust Re-entry. Notice the rational female voice and the intuitive male voices there. Very insightful.

Sounds like fun.
1.1 Cat; any kind of cat. They are graceful, powerful, quirky.
1.2 Polar Bear. Amazing creature. Big, dangerous, cute in a massive way; surviving in such a hostile place.
1.3 Hummingbird. Neat little creature, their flight, very pretty, fun to watch.
2. I'd probably, out of curiousity, give it a quick inspection. Ponder it's historical significance, it's craftsmanship. If it were as massive as you seem to imply (no easy and obvious way around); maybe pull out some good reading material (always bring reading material), find a comfy place to relax and read for a while.
3. The ocean signifies the beauty and brawn of nature. I find the elegance and violence of crashing waves a very cool thing.
4. Blue. I know - no shades allowed. But that deep azure after sunset, but before darkness is the best.
I did not think too much on the animals; just took 3 I like off the top of my head as they came me.

According to your answers, you show to be a person with a very unique inner beauty. A person very in love with life and nature. You show no need for expensive and elegant things to make you happy. You are pretty much happy with simple things. You also tend to show that intelligence is very inmportant to you and you would like to have more of it. (not that I am saying you are not, but you show to want more in that aspect).
People see you as a very simple person. A person not hard to please. They also see you fun in some ways and intelligent in others. You show to be effective at handling stressful situations, but you are the kind of person who will avoid those situations as much as possible.
You are very sensitive when it comes to love. You like it to be taken seriously and you cannot and will not tolerate a broken heart.
Your favorite color is black because, out of many things black can represent, it also represents beauty in a strange way and symbolizes authority.

You show to be a person very confident in yourself. You tend to dislike people who depend on others for their every day things in life. You show to like people with a great sense of humor and people who show respect. You show to be a person who likes to see things in order and you dislike people who are disorganized and messy. You show not to want more out of life than what it has given you, in other words you are happy with the way you are and what you have.
People see you as a person with very good manners and as a person sure of everything you say and what you want. You show to definitely dislike stressful situations and if you can you will turn around and walk away. You just do not tolerate it.
Love to you is important in some ways, but you show to be very cautious about it. You are not satisfied with just anything when it comes to love. In other words the person would need to have many qualities for you to accept.
Your favorite color is blue, because you tend not to like nothing stressful and blue symbolizes peace, and blue is showed to cause the body to produce calming chemicals.

1. Name three animals that you like most. Starting with the first most liked to the 3rd. And after each one give an explanation as to why you like them.
a) Penguin - Any kind, it doesn't matter. I like it for being a unique animal.
b) Black jaguar - commonly known as a black panther, black jaguars rock my world
c) pandas - hey, they're loveable, right?
2. Imagine you are walking down a long long road and suddenly you come to a giant wall that blocks the road. What will be your reaction?
- I would wonder how that got there and then find a way around it if I'm going somewhere or I'll turn around and go somewhere else if I have nothing better to do.
3. Imagine you are in front of and observing the ocean. What does it represent to you?
- Possibilities for exploration. We know more about space than we know about the underwater areas of our own planet.
4.Name your most favorite color. (Please use only, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Black, or Brown. no light brown, light green ect.)
- Black

1. Name three animals that you like most. Starting with the first most liked to the 3rd. And after each one give an explanation as to why you like them.
Liked most for?
Eating: 1) Lobster - succulent flavor 2) Cows - nothing quite like a juicy rare good cut of beef 3) Pig - ribs/bacon/roasts hmmm good.
Pets: 1) dogs - loyal companions great protectors 2) goldfish - easy to care pleasant distraction 3) boa's - easy care, great examples of basic animalism, make great belts and boots
wild: 1) great white shark - managed to thrive millions of years with little change 2) raven - surivability in some of the harshest conditions and freedom of flight 3) hummingbirds - amazing marvels of flight
2. Imagine you are walking down a long long road and suddenly you come to a giant wall that blocks the road. What will be your reaction?
Where was I going? where was I coming from?
If heading home I would attempt passage over, around or under
If just out for a stroll I'd choose an unobstructed path
If headed somehwhere specific I would seek an alternate route for my destination
3. Imagine you are in front of and observing the ocean. What does it represent to you?
The duality of existence. The calming pulse of it's rhythm when not distressed with the potential to destroy at a whim. A source of both life and death.
Where is the front of an ocean anyway?
4.Name your most favorite color. (Please use only, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Black, or Brown. no light brown, light green ect.)
For clothes: blue
for hair: yellow
for meat: red
for flowers: orange
color for color's sake? purple
can you tell I hate questions like...
what's your favorite (fill in the blank)
This particularly annoys the kids as they constantly ask questions like -
what's your favorite ice cream?
I inevitably answer... It depends...
Only time I can think of where I actually answer straight away is:
What's your favorite kinda soda... A & W Root Beer on tap!

1a. Cats. Seems to be a common theme here! Beautiful, self-sufficient, perfectly adapted for what they do.
b. Dolphins. Playful, intelligent, sleek.
c. Snakes. I find them mesmerising.
2. Frustration & annoyance. After that, I would try to climb it to see what is on the other side.
3. Freedom and adventure.
4. Green. Not even close!

OK, this is a personality (or psychological) test that a friend of mine taught me some time ago. The test consists in answering a few questions, and with the answers given, I will give you your results. This test will tell you:
1.Your true personality
2.The personality you would like to have
3.The personality that others see in you
And a few more things.
I'm incredibly dubious, as I am to any "test" that will tell you everything about me.
1. Name three animals that you like most. Starting with the first most liked to the 3rd. And after each one give an explanation as to why you like them.
Wolf -- Misconstrued by society, scorned, rejected, but a truly loving and remarkable animal. While sometimes cruel, can also be kind and go out of their way to help other pack members. Also, they're cute.
Mountain Lion -- Stealthy. Skilled. A capable hunter and killer, and pretty hard to spot when they have the advantage. Also, a very sleek and rather cute animal.
Dogs -- Loyal (to a fault), loving (to a fault), they're animals they can depend on to be with you if you're lonely, and protect you when you need it.
2. Imagine you are walking down a long long road and suddenly you come to a giant wall that blocks the road. What will be your reaction?
"Darnit! Time to find another road..." If there isn't any other roads available, or I have to walk a long way back, I just use demolitions or a sledgehammer and move on. Most likely, though, I'd just find another road.
3. Imagine you are in front of and observing the ocean. What does it represent to you?
An endless, tranquil, beautiful ocean of blue stretched out to infinity. Infinite exploration, infinite beauty, and a truly beautiful sight.
4.Name your most favorite color. (Please use only, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Black, or Brown. no light brown, light green ect.)
Black.

Thanks Titana. I would have preferred a reading that pointed out all of my bad qualities rather than the ones I like to kid myslef into believing I have
Couple of real doozies though...
You show to be a person who likes to see things in order and you dislike people who are disorganized and messy. Better kick my fiance out of the house then!
You show not to want more out of life than what it has given you, in other words you are happy with the way you are and what you have. Nah - I'm frightfully ambitious. Haven't hit the "comfort zone" yet!
You show to definitely dislike stressful situations and if you can you will turn around and walk away That won't help me as a Customs Officer!!
Your favorite color is blue, because you tend not to like nothing stressful and blue symbolizes peace, and blue is showed to cause the body to produce calming chemicals. I tend to thrive in high tension situations. Though admittedly I have just had some tests to see if I've got a stomach ulcer. :) Just wondering - blue seems to symbolise a lot of things does it not? ;)
Fun.
Safe, vague and inaccurate to be sure. But fun. :)

Paulie Jay I just knew you were going to say something like that...:p
Typical you. But anyways, yes, blue can symbolize many things: It is known that because blue is the color of the sky and the ocean it is considered a very popular color. It causes the opposite of red. It is peaceful and tranquil color that is known even to produce calming chemicals in the body and is why it is often used in bedrooms. Fashion consultants even recommend wearing blue to job interviews because it symbolizes loyalty. It is also known that people are also more productive in blue rooms and even has been proved that weight lifters are able to handle heavier weights in blue gyms......and so on and so on.........:p

:) wow.....99% true!!!!! How did you do that?

2nd question's answer:> I will try to climb the wall if it is possible and subject to if road is available beyond that wall, otherwise before I will look at left and right sides if road not found, I will return back to the point and start to search the different road or shortcut to go to the destination.

3rd answer:> if I am standing nearby the ocean, I will look into the ocean for tranquility, beauty of the ocean, the color of the water, the tides, the sand going back with the tidal waves, I will watch birds who are flying on the sea, I will some ships (if there are), I will take some photographs,

Dog- loyal,makes great pet.
monkeys- funny, good reflexes.
cows- gives us milk and beef.
2. Imagine you are walking down a long long road and suddenly you come to a giant wall that blocks the road. What will be your reaction?
climb the wall (if possible), see whats beyond it.
3. Imagine you are in front of and observing the ocean. What does it represent to you?
if no clouds, great place to see all the stars at night.
4.Name your most favorite color. (Please use only, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Black, or Brown. no light brown, light green ect.)
Black
OK, according to your answers: You show to be a very fun and loyal person. You show to be very sure of yourself and about everything around you. You tend to like all kind of people, in that, you rarely make choices. You show that you have no need in having more than what you already have in life , you seem happy with what you have.
You are very good at facing stressful situations. You usually manage to give it a solution with out any help.
There seems to be something about love that you show to not quite understand, but even so you consider a very important part of your life.
You color is black because black represents "authority" and you have showed to have the authority of being able to give a solution to any problem yourself.

You show to be a very grateful person. You are grateful for all the things life has given you. You also show to be very independent and you don't like the idea of having to depend on others for any of your needs in life.
You show to be a person always wanting to give more of yourself than what you do, but there seems to be no need because all the people around you see you as a person with many qualities a person they can rely on a person they can trust.
You show to be a person who don't tolerate stressful situations. You would rather turn around and walk away when you can.
You think of love as something you definitely have to have respect for. You feel that if you don't it will just not work out.
Your color is green because green seems to be a very relaxing color.

In the colloquial sense, this is true enough, although I'd have to quibble on the literal sense.
You also show to be very independent and you don't like the idea of having to depend on others for any of your needs in life.
Very true.
You show to be a person always wanting to give more of yourself than what you do, but there seems to be no need because all the people around you see you as a person with many qualities a person they can rely on a person they can trust.
Flattery will get you everywhere. I do try to have these qualities. Whether I generally succeed or not, you'll have to ask others.

True enough. While I'm pretty steady in a crisis, I'm not so good under prolonged pressure, and I intensely dislike confrontation.

Based on your answer I can reveal the following things about you.
You have an open and generous nature and while you are quite prepared to give plenty without expecting reward, you recoil at the thought of someone taking advantage of your kindness. You're no pushover, and can at times be as stern and firm as the situation requires. People recognise this fine quality in you and tend to take notice when you do decide to pull rank.
Your mind is open to concepts that fall outside the square, and your intelligence enables you to separate the genuinne ones from the fantasies. You have an inner confidence that others can see in you even though modesty stops you from flaunting it all the time.
Life has taught you many things and you tend not to take things for granted. There are some old inner scars form an earlier time of your life which haven't quite healed, though thet are lessening as the days go by.

Titana - this thread does not bother me. Where exactly have I indicated that I'm not accepting the fun of the thread :eh: . Just like you, I am merely having some fun. Have you not seen the many smilies that I have liberally applied to my posts?? I was merely having a little fun with the rather vague "insights" to be found from the answers to the questions, and that's all. You know, giving descriptions that could apply to anyone? I thought that was the whole point of the thread, which is why I gave you a "reading" of my own. I meant nothing personal by it and fully assumed that you were in on the joke. I had no idea that you were being so serious about something that was fun. Sorry.

And still again, what is the grey or silver car about? I just do not understand!
Titana, people who do cold reading often offer a "guess" about a silver car. Before, it was a blue car.
If I were to say "Next week, you will avoid a spot of danger. Watch the silver car."
This sounds like a specific guess, doesn't it?
But let's look closer: how many silver cars do you see on the roads? Heck, you might even own a silver car. I do. So does my father and at least three of my neighbors. It's an intensely popular color right now. Just like blue was a few years ago. And green in 1993. And white was in the 1990s.
Now. Danger. Bad drivers are everywhere. Heck, you see bad drivers pretty much any time you get into a car or walk on a sidewalk. Bad drivers tend to be dangerous. And yet, the vast majority of the time we watch for them and complete our trip safe as can be.
Hence my "avoid a spot of danger" guess. It's even more subtle, because there's no guarantee that you'd recognize danger you'd avoid, or that a situation that looked dangerous really was. Even if you did get injured by a silver car (the most common car on the road, remember), the guess is still right, because the situation could have been deadly, and you obviously managed to avoid that.
Even worse, I didn't actually say to watch for danger. I said "Watch the silver car." This is an entirely separate statement. So the "avoided danger" may not be auto related. Fumbling a knife but not getting cut by it qualifies as avoided danger. And as for watching the silver car, you're likely to see thousands of silver cars in the course of a week. The odds are that one of them is going to do something unusual. And if you don't see it, I could claim you weren't watching closely enough.
So my statement is designed to look specific, while leaving all sorts of wiggle room and loopholes to reinterpret events favoring a hit claim.
What you're doing is fun, Titana, no question, and I have absolutely no beef with it. But it's recognizably employing some cold, warm, and sometimes even hot reading techniques, whether you know you are or not. Paulie recognizes it, and so do I, hence our Silver Car comments.

OK, Paulie Jay I just found out where you got your comments from.... I mean you even took the time to look up Cold Reading and I am sure you came up with this:
http://skepdic.com/coldread.html
I know because I put "cold reading" in Yahoo search this morning and that is what it gave me...
I truly wish I was that good. Now, this is going to spoil everyone's else fun but, now I am going to tell you how I learned it.
Some time ago a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to take a personality test, and I said OK. Now, when she did it on me, it did kind of surprised me, because it was kind of true everything that she said about me. After that I tried it on another few people, and also worked. So, the other day when I was going through a bunch of old books and papers of mine I found the test that I had written down and I thought it would be a good idea to try it here, so I did.
OK, this is the way the test works (I am kind of sure that is what you wanted anyway).....:D
Now, lets start with the 3 animals. I ask a person to name 3 animals that they like best from the 1st most liked to the 3rd most liked and to explain why they like them. Now, it has been shown that in most cases (not in all) the person will usually and unconsciously pick the 1st animal that is very close to their own personality and will usually give their personality out when explaining why they like the first animal.
Now, usually after giving their personality out in the first, the second thing that usually comes to mind (unconsciously) will be either the way they would like to be or the way they see most people. Which will be given out in the second animal.
In the 3rd, it has been known that a person will explain why they like the animal usually close to the way they think people see them.
Example: If the person says: In their first animal that they like a dog, OK then they say because the dog is lovable playful loyal etc. OK, from their I would say: You show to be a very lovable loyal person.....you get it?
Now lets go on to the wall. Now ask yourself why a wall? because going down a long long road and suddenly coming to a wall that blocks your way is suppose to represent a stressful situation. And when I ask what will be your reaction, from there I can assume what a person would do in a stressful situation.
Example: A person says, well I would find a way to "jump it" or another person may say I would "turn around and go back", do you get the difference there?
Logically the person who says that they would "turn around and go back" would be a person that cannot handle a stressful situation that good. And the person who says I would find away to "jump over" is a person you would logically assume would handle a stressful situation in effective way.
Now, the ocean. the ocean is to represent love. Why because it is the closest thing that has been found to represent it. It's big to some beautiful to others and has been shown that a person will unconsciously describe what they feel about love when describing what they feel about the ocean.
Example: If some says, well, when I look at the ocean it seems like something very beautiful to me. I from there would say: you show to be a person that considers love something very beautiful and important in your life...if however, the person says they see it as something mysterious or etc. Then I would say: You show to be a person who seems to be confused about love...etc.
Now, there will be a little difference when trying this test on a forum than when you try it with a close friend or someone. Because you have to limit yourself you can't be direct in many ways so that you don't say something that might offend a person.....Now try it I bet it will work for you.....:p

1. Name three animals that you like most. Starting with the first most liked to the 3rd. And after each one give an explanation as to why you like them.
Ebby, my late dog: the only thing in this godforsaken world I ever truly loved
Sparkie: Ebby's predecessor.
My mother2. Imagine you are walking down a long long road and suddenly you come to a giant wall that blocks the road. What will be your reaction? What the @#&* is this doing here!
3. Imagine you are in front of and observing the ocean. What does it represent to you? A large body of water.
4.Name your most favorite color. (Please use only, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Black, or Brown. no light brown, light green etc.) Black.

Interesting. I would guess that like most personality type tests, it's pretty accurate most of the time (if people do not overthink their responses) with a few outliers.
I can guess the rest for me, though the inspect, admire, relax response on the wall might require a bit of introspection. (Oops, did it again).
I think I'll go back now and see which people wanted to blow up the wall and make sure I never make them angry. IIRC, there was talk of sledgehammers, dynamite, bazookas, etc. . .

Well, personally, I'd just use whatever means of demolition are available. I.E., TNT, a bazooka, sledgehammer, pickaxe, or anything available. I think it says more about my resourcefulness and hate for climbing than how sociopathic I am.
Though I do like things that go boom.

Now reading the thread is pretty funny.
People who's thoughts on love is, . . . very large.
What about the colors? I suppose there's some pretty standard interpretations on that.

The thing about the colors are very easy too. You see first you just have to know a Little bit about what color represents what. Then from their you associate the meaning of the color that go's best with the personality the person showed to have........Titana.

1.a) Cat - silent elegant death;
1.b) Cheetah - big silent elegant and fast death;
1.c) Dolphin - silent elegant and not death.
2. Most of the walls can be either circumvented or you can dig underneath. I'd try to circumvent.
3. Awesome power of nature, especially when the sun sets or rises.
4. Green or Blue, I can't make up my mind on that one. I tend to Green more.
No I didn't read anything else in this thread yet :)

You show to be a pretty cool person. You like being around people who have a great sense of humor, and who are easy going. You dislike people who are to serious they just seem very boring to you.
Yep :D
You show not to be good at facing stressful situations, you see them as something not serious but funny.
Nah I'm pretty good in an emergency- I have a lot of perspective and can remain pretty calm...
You show to like love, but just don't seem to have much interest in it at the moment.
Sorta... I do really...
Your favorite color is green because it is a very cheerful color.
It's a calm colour :D

Ahhh, I didn't put what I'd actually do to overcome the wall I just put what my reaction would be... I'd probobly just walk around it, or go over it- it wouldn't be a really stressfull thing...
Now, the ocean. the ocean is to represent love. Why because it is the closest thing that has been found to represent it. It's big to some beautiful to others and has been shown that a person will unconsciously describe what they feel about love when describing what they feel about the ocean.

Example: If the person says: In their first animal that they like a dog, OK then they say because the dog is lovable playful loyal etc. OK, from their I would say: You show to be a very lovable loyal person.....you get it? But not vicious, stinky, overly protective or vomit eating? It really just illustrates my point that the test only makes broad positive personality statements that people like to think that they have. And all based on the tester's idea of what these animals represent. Does a snake indicate poise or betrayal? Does a sheep indicate cuddliness or stupidity?
In the 3rd, it has been known that a person will explain why they like the animal usually close to the way they think people see them. And I chose tuna, because I think that they're delicious. What am I saying about myself here??? :surprised
Would it not indicate that the person has the common sense to stop so that they don't walk straight into a wall? I perceive a road blocked by a wall as a challenge, rather than a stressful situation. But my answer "stop walking and move to the footpath" indicates that I can't handle stress - just because I don't want to climb the wall?

As for your last word (or should I say last 14 words), I'm not entirely sure what you mean by it? I'm not trying to prove you wrong. I do think, however, that you are giving yourself a little too much credit for some very vague and general analysis.

You are the one who came in my thread starting things that did not even make sense....I mean come on admit it......
I’m not sure what to say to this. Has anyone else found my posts to be cryptic?
Why all this flapping of wings and pointing of fingers Titana? Why are you getting so twisted up over this? Why do you feel that I’m attacking you just because I’m asking you some good natured questions?
I have played along with the spirit of fun, and have on several occasions made the observation that the “readings” are very loose in interpretation and have done it with good humour. It’s not life and death, it doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things, but hey-ho, these readings could apply to anyone. I’m not losing any sleep over it. It’s not important. I even gave you a tongue-in-cheek reading in return, a reading that could apply to about 95% of the forum’s membership, just to make a joke out of it.
But you have this idea that I’m some sort of crusade to prove you wrong, or derail your train of thought… or… or whatever the heck slight I’ve apparently foisted upon you, by the simple act of having fun myself. You keep saying that I’m “wrong” even though I haven’t actually made any assertions. I have asked a few questions in the spirit of discussion and tried to have fun with those questions, but apparently that doesn’t qualify as fun.
So I’m deemed to be the grand poobah of misery just because I’m not entirely amazed by this test’s predictive powers? Well golly gee and pardon me for breathing. Surely you can see from my posts that I’m not serious?
Can we please just bury this hatchet, NOW? I'm gobsmacked that this is even an argument.

OK, this is a personality (or psychological) test that a friend of mine taught me some time ago. The test consists in answering a few questions, and with the answers given, I will give you your results. This test will tell you:
1.Your true personality
2.The personality you would like to have
3.The personality that others see in you
And a few more things.
4.Name your most favorite color. (Please use only, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Black, or Brown. no light brown, light green ect.)
Titana.;)
1:
1. Cats, because they are independent
2. Wild birds, because they sing so nicely
3. Whales, because they are mysterious
2:
Turn around and go a different way
3:
Salty air and constant wind, deep & ancient history.

Titana has been banned for a week, for obvious reasons. Since it was a first offense (I'm counting the whole sequence as one incident), it's only a temporary ban.

Titana was very efficiently giving the assumptions over the personality tests, in my opinion: to draw certain assumptions on the personality issues is a quite difficult task, but Titana was doing pretty well.
secondly reading someone after taking a questionire and telling the true answers and dignosis of the personality is too much difficult one, but Titana was quite efficiently giving the answers on the personality perspectives.
important thing is this: everyone who was (means we people) answering the questions on which the personality can guase, viz. 1, 2, 3, a little bit fastly expecting the answers from Titana !
Titana, all the best, and keep it up, please.

As I discussed with her in PM, in my opinion, what she should have done is to ask Paulie Jay to stop it. And I do mean that; an overt, direct request for Paulie to stop the debunking stuff.
Personally, I'm not picking a side. I think that Titana overreacted, and I honestly saw little in Paulie Jay's posts that warranted any real reaction in the first place besides, maybe, "Paulie, that's not the intent of this thread", or somesuch.

Agreed. My impression was he was writing comments on her readings, implying they weren't "there".
Sometimes intelligent people forget the nature of the personality test was all in good fun and ridicule the methods of the tester. I for one, admire the witty remarks of PJ but hope in the future he will be more sensitive to the feelings of others. Ultimately, that will depend on his thoughts.

My logical/critical thinking side agrees mostly with PJ, "the answers were very broad, method not very reliable". The other side of my brain agrees with Titana, "it was just for fun, no big deal". So, I have difficulty to choose who to support.
But because the whole purpose of this whole thread was "just for fun" as mentioned by Titana several times, I think I have to agree with Titana.

As someone who has personally hurt the feelings of others in the past many times. I can honestly say, I am usually not trying and just as often have no idea I have been doing it. In a case that spans a prolonged period of time, one usually becomes more enlightened on the cause and effect of their words.
PJ showed evidence of this as the dialogue rolled along. Unfortunately, it was a smidge later than Titanas' tolerence level of being teased...as Jethro Tull says in Locomotive Breath: "...and the train it won't stop goin', no way too slow down..."
Feelings were hurt, anger exploded, reprecussion ensued.
Now all that is left is Titana to suffer her sentence and hopefully not feel victimized and come back. PJ has done nothing wrong in so far as breaking rules and feels he is the ultimate victum...and so are the days of our lives...

According to her, she did ask PJ to stop commenting on the topic, so I am not really sure who is lying here, but someone is.

I went to the beginning of the thread and read through each post, I can honestly say Titana gently reminded him at least once this thread is for fun...I may be more intuitive than others in discerning this as her way of saying "knock it off". IMO.
(To be fair, I may be reading more into her comment than she was saying ;))

Well, I am not going into detail about the whole thing, but I have talked to each of then personally and one of them is lying about what happened between the two of them in PM's. Titana said she asked him to stop, and PJ said she asked him to continue posting. So honestly I am not really sure what or why this is happening.:wall:

STOP IT PLEASE!!! We don't need this discussion. What happened, happened. We can't change anything. I just hope one of them got a good lesson of self control and other will be more aware of other people feelings and will consider his words before posting. That wasn't very nice of them both. However, I think PJ started this, so he is a little bit more guilty. Again, I'm not the judge, ToSeek is. But, please, stop this discussion, 'cause it ain't getting us anywhere.

So it might have been a linguistic problem after all.

Just as a note, for me, a good part of the fun in this thread was reading Titana's discussion of the background for the test (I thank her for that, by the way) and PJ's and Moose's comments on cold reading. I've always been the type that likes to analyze things, and I was immediately curious what procedure was being used for her answers. I would understand a request to hold off questions or discussion until some specified time to avoid comprimising peoples' choices, but failing that I would consider discussion to be fair game. Keep in mind that this is the BAUT forum, and that's just the way a lot of us think.

As I discussed with her in PM, in my opinion, what she should have done is to ask Paulie Jay to stop it. And I do mean that; an overt, direct request for Paulie to stop the debunking stuff.
And yet, this is an astronomy/science board. Should we be required to allow ATM proponents to post unchallenged if they give us an overt, direct request to not debunk them?
Sorry, but as much as I like and respect Titana, she doesn't get a free pass any more than any of the rest of us do. Not even Phil and Fraser can (or would, for that matter) expect their arguments to get a free ride, and they own the place.
Personally, I'm not picking a side. I think that Titana overreacted, and I honestly saw little in Paulie Jay's posts that warranted any real reaction in the first place besides, maybe, "Paulie, that's not the intent of this thread", or somesuch.
No, neither Paulie Jay nor I were riding her. If that's what she perceived, then I for one apologize for not being clearer in my intent, but I stand by my analysis in full. She was clearly warm reading. (Mostly warm, anyway, she was basically repeating what we'd told her, plus what she already knew about us. She even said as much.)
I don't understand why pointing this out offended her to the degree it did, but for someone who insisted it was all in fun, she appeared (at least to me) to have taken it far too seriously. I get the feeling she may have started to believe her own press.
I don't want to press the comparison very far, as I'm not prepared to assume anything about Titana's motivations or personality, but her reaction is not terribly unlike those who frequently show up on JREF, insisting they have some sort of psychic power (it varies), while belligerently refusing to test their claims in a proper test, and blowing up when they are called on it.
And it seems to me she faced no challenge here at all, just two apparently inconvenient observations.
*shrug* That's the extent of my say on the matter. I'm content to drop it as an unimportant event. I will be pleased if/when Titana resumes posting after her suspension, but should she choose to write us off, I wish her well.

I am quite prepared to show the PMs Titana sent me asking me to answer her posts to anyone who thinks that I'm a liar.
I just don't understand how any person could interpret my posts as interrogations. I said that I wasn't serious. I used smilies. I was joking with her for Rod's sake! I said over and over that I was having fun with it.
Could somebody PLEASE show me where I have either:
insulted her
questioned her intellligence
attacked her
implied that I was better than her
made any hard nosed allegations against her or her test
I was quite plain in saying that I wasn't out to prove anything. I wasn't trying to debunk her. I was just trying to provoke discussion. It was a very gentle nudge in the ribs for crying out loud! It would seem that the only way in which I was allowed to have fun in this thread would have been to gasp in astonishment and say how great Titana is. Great fun.

Even tiny drops of water can bore (or rivet) a hole through a rock, given time. If you don't see what you did (or if) you did wrong, no one else will be able to point anything out to you. Just let it go...(yawn)

Oh all right then
I recant all!! I am just a miserable sod who deliberately set out to drive Titana over the edge. Lock me in a cupboard and starve me of sustenance because I'm just a mean little kiljoy. Onward from this day I will never make an observation about anything for my sadistic little game has been tumbled!

Indeed it is. Personal differences can be addressed privately or via other means.
