I saw this (http://www.ecoenquirer.com/classroom-stress.htm) posted somewhere else. It seems earnest apart from the teacher in the picture who looks like a hippy, who's been left in the dryer too long. But from the content of the article it has to be a joke. I mean, surely they're not teaching 12 year olds about carbon footprints rather than basic literacy skills. It does sound like an account of some dystopic future where America has turned into a communist dictatorship under Comrade Al Gore, especially the marxist overtones where parents are told not to teach their kids, but rather leave that to state approved professionals who will instill in them the politically correct knowledge.
Then there's this:
"I'm just thankful that we have psychotropic medications to get us through these difficult formative years."
I suppose the name Spanker kind of gives it away as well plus the poor spelling of the e-mail.
I think it's a joke but it's rather too scary to be funny.

Well, it seems to be a tabloid website based around environmental issues. It features articles like "Penguins 'Fed Up' With Media Attention" and "More Polar Bears Suffering Heat Exhaustion". I wouldn't put too much credit into anything that comes from that site.

I've read had a look around that site and it appears to be an environmental parody site. My kind of site.

It is quite amusing and the articles sound 'real' enough for the most part so it is quite interesting. It'll make a good topic starter if things ever die down a bit.

I particularly like this one (http://www.ecoenquirer.com/antarctic-ice.htm).
Dr. Frost also described ongoing research into the application of the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle to climate studies. Her concern is that the large number of climate researchers that are now observing the climate system are actually changing the Earth's climate because of their observations, and believes this effect needs to be taken into account in computerized climate models.
That sounds like it belongs in Futurama.

Also, according to this (http://www.answers.com/topic/list-of-towns-in-vermont), there is no town in Vermont named "Woodland"

Did no one read the disclaimer (http://www.ecoenquirer.com/Terms-Conditions.htm)? :)

Well, between Christian Fundamentalists wanting to rant on about their lifestyle choices, Directors trying to win Oscars by filming them and the start of a new Attenborough on BBC1, I can't exactly blame the Penguins.

Not "trying," they did win the Oscar. And as EW said, the penguins were already dressed for the event. ;)

Thanks - I missed that category, so I wasn't sure and erred with caution.

I liked that the first speakers during the acceptance speech were the penguins--and that the human translated for us.
