They've just updated the title/intro, it doesn't sound so bad now:
His agent, Robert Voice, said Sir Patrick will have a pacemaker fitted on Thursday in routine operation.
"There's nothing to be concerned about, it wasn't an emergency," said Mr Voice, adding Sir Patrick was in "good form".All the best to him though!

He is expected to be released from hospital in a few days' time. - BBC update.
Incredible man - do you realise how long he's been going?
I remember, mnyah mnyah, he came and gave a talk to our school once, this was in the early fifties! and already I knew who he was already he was famous!
(I asked, Sir, as an astronomer how do you spend your…then I thought oh an astronomer doesn't do anything during the day and I said…er, your time?
He answered actually I'm not an astronomer I'm a writer.
But he made up for that slight let-down by telling us about his amateur stargazing.)
Star of the first magnitude, I look forward to him getting well and hearing how well he is wished.

In one of his books he stated that he has met the Wright brothers, Neil Armstrong and possibly the first person to walk on Mars. I just found that to be really cool.

Hes also met Yuri Gagarin and hes provided piano accompaniment for Einstein playing on the violin. Quite a list but the first to fly and first on mars thing is an interesting prospect.

Well, the first person to walk on Mars is alive today.
HE was the 'robot' host of 'Gamesmaster' as well.

Apropos of nothing more than me only finding out about the familial link the other day, I wonder if his nephew, the legendary-in-his-own-field Alan has gone to see him?

A damn sight more likely than him going to see V for Vendetta I'll bet! ;)
