Game to turn pet hamsters into people-eaters (http://www.newscientisttech.com/article.ns?id=dn9009&feedId=online-news_rss20)

A computer game that turns pet hamsters into virtual man-eaters could be the first in a new breed of games aimed at both people and their pets.

"Mice Arena" is an augmented-reality computer game in which human players are pitted against a real, live hamster.

The hamster is housed in a tank fitted with infra-red sensors that track its motion as it chases after a tasty piece of bait. Its movements are mimicked by monster hamster on a computer screen, which chases a virtual character representing a human opponent.

What do you mean "turn" them into people-eaters. Those little buggers are killers already; just look at all the bones...

I'd like to know what they use for bait that the little bugger has to chase it.

And people say that the gaming industry is stagnant.

I've got a list all ready, if they find themselves stuck for ideas. :D

I can see it now:

Jack Thompson: "Look! Not only are video games corrupting our youth, they are training our precious pet hamsters to be vicious man-eaters! They will kill us all!"

I, for one, welcome our new hamster overlords.

Not sure if you heard, but he's now suing the Florida Bar.

Anyways, I think his argument would be more in line that it will induce nightmares (Little kids get eaten by their pets!), or that it teaches kids to torture small furry animals, or some such.

Heh, he fell off my radar after the Penny Arcade thing, and Fark hasn't mentionned him in a while either. I'll bite though; this should be pretty good. Why is he suing the Florida Bar?

If I'm understanding it right, he feels that the Florida Bar holds a grudge against him from the previous time he successfully sued them, and that now they're working with other lawyers to ruin his reputation.

The article is here (http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=8920), maybe you'll be able to understand it better then I can.

The other lawyers don't actually need to ruin his reputation, he's been doing a fine job of it all on his own.

This lawsuit seems to be a "there's nothing wrong with me, so there must be something wrong with the rest of the universe" sort of deal. Pretty much classic Jack-Boy.
