Hi, I am Māori. I live in Midwest. I like it here. I study archeoastrology, which is not a major field of study. I like it here, though.

Where you from? I like rocks... they are fascinating and much more fun than business. I don't know of any rich geologists though /_-;

Welcome to BAUT, Māori. I like your username.

I'm here in Chicago. I will go to Southern Indiana to study "rocks". I'm excited, they have a cool school down there. I'm basing my decision on the quarries.

I was born in America, but raised in Tokyo, Japan. I speak both languages.

That's cool. One of my hobbies is learning about ancient Japanese history (Jomon thru Heian) and folklore. I had several Japanese pen pals who tried to teach me some nihongo but I have never had the time to really study it and have forgotten much of what they taught me.

Welcome...

Can you explain archeoastrology? I'm not that familiar with that term. I tried looking it up and only found a couple of dozen google hits, no wiki hits, and the pages I found were not clear. (It makes me suspicious)

And by the way... Can you combine your sentences into one post? It's not against the rules what you did, but it does make it a little difficult to read.

Hi Māori, weclome to America and BAUT. I was asleep when you were first posting. This is a global forum, so members come and go as the Earth rotates. I took a course in archeoastronomy in college and found it very interesting, but I never heard of archeoastrology. I'm a chemist myself, but my area of chemistry is closely related to geology - I too think rocks are more interesting than business.

Hi Maori, and welcome. :)

Just out of curiosity [you donīt have to answer if you donīt feel like], are you from New Zealand or from the islands?

Cheers.

Oh, sorry, I have school. I can only log on when time permits. Argos, I'm just a bug, not really from South America.

I can't find it as major for a college, either. I just like "astro" rocks. I'd thing geology for a major, which I'm good at. Purdue is the closest school. I see it on TV and internet, though. I see archeologist become archeoastrologist on TV.

Going on the studying rocks clue, I'm guessing you meant archeoatronomy?

One hallmark of the new research is active cooperation between professionals and amateurs from many backgrounds and cultures. The benefit of this cooperation has been that archaeoastronomy has expanded to include the interrelated interests in ancient and native calendar systems, concepts of time and space, mathematics, counting systems and geometry, surveying and navigational techniques as well as geomancy and the origins of urban planning. We feel the excitement of the synergy that results when the new syntheses are more than the sum of their parts.

Our subject is essentially a study of the Anthropology of Astronomy and world-views and the role of astronomy and astronomers in their cultures.
Perhaps, I should just stick with Geology. Archaeoastronomy (http://www.wam.umd.edu/~tlaloc/archastro/cfaar_as.html) looks confusing.

I asked my dad what you meant, and you are close. Wow, I learned something today that I didn't know yesterday about my heritage. I thought I was just American. :think:
