I'm taking my third of several philosophy masters courses, and stumbled across this website the other day: http://www.don-lindsay-archive.org/skeptic/arguments.html
It's a gold mine for critiquing/debunking arguements that "sound good," but simply don't hold water.
The more I read of logical discourse, the more I'm beginning to see how much commentary here, in the news, in court, and elsewhere falls into one or more of the many traps of fallacious arguements.
I hope you don't mind, but I'll be using this link and the rules contained therein, hopefully to improve the quality of my own posts, as well as to counter some (a minority, I assure you), of the content contained herein.
Yes, I promise I'll be civil! A lively, but polite debate is usually a sign that things are moving in the right direction, no? And I'll refrain from commenting about things I know little about.
