Hmm, when I read the linked article I had a vision of a person talking, but their lips weren't moving. It was almost as if they were talking out of some other part of their anatomy. I wonder what that part could be?

Sounds rather far-fetched. Maybe they just explain it poorly.

They say it deflects sound and light, but then say the special properties result in a material that does not reflect light.

Isn't deflection a subset of reflection? I also think the black hole analogy is taking a lot of license.
