...or so says an unintelligable Russian-to-English translation of a doom-mongering article:
http://www.online-translator.com/url/tran_url.asp?lang=en&url=http://www.mpravda.com/?lang=ru&pubId=16616+&direction=re&template=General&cp1=NO&cp2=NO&autotranslate=on&psubmit2.x=39&psubmit2.y=17
Those who know Russian can read the original: http://www.mpravda.com/?lang=ru&pubId=16616+&direction=re&template=General&cp1=NO&cp2=NO&autotranslate=on&psubmit2.x=39&psubmit2.y=17
What do you guys think?
EDIT: here's a lengthier version: http://itnews.com.ua/26062.html (Babelfish doesn't work with this one, aparently)

I copied and pasted the text from the longer one into Babelfish and it worked okay. I liked the bit that said the Tunguska meteorite slammed "satisfactorilly" into Siberia. Different translation there huh?
He also thinks that there are 1000 meteor "trails" that intersect the Earth's orbit, of which we pay attention to 9. That there are over 2 million asteroids 50 meters or larger, and that 2 to 4 billion dollars (US) will be enough to finish the detection/defense system to keep the planet safe. Seems like a pretty cheap price tag for something like that.

CT or ATM thread if there ever was one.
Yo, mods...
PS: Who needs telescopes when one has supervision (http://www.online-translator.com/url/tran_url.asp?lang=en&url=http://www.mpravda.com/?lang=ru&pubId=16616+&direction=re&template=General&cp1=NO&cp2=NO&autotranslate=on&psubmit2.x=39&psubmit2.y=17)?
Then, perhaps supervision by a few peers is what is really needed here.

CT/ATM?
I only posted this because I was genuinely spooked, just looking for answers from the pros, sorry if it was spam or anything.
I remember some ShortNews / Yahoo! News article I read back in 2002, something about the sun exploding in 2008 (that one made me anxious for a whole week), I guess this is just a repeat of the "some guy gets a dodgy 'news' company to report his findings" scenario.
So bottom line: We're all going to be alive by December?

CT: The Conspiracy Theories forum
ATM: The Against the Mainstream forum
If you ask me, it might be best in Small Media at Large, since it's about the print medium (if Pravda is still actually printed).

Yes, after some reflection I go with SML. Pravda's gone from the government's propaganda tool to the Russian equivalent of the National Enquirer.

Whereas the content of the post's reference was ATM/CT, the post itself was definitely media-oriented.
Re:
So bottom line: We're all going to be alive by December? No. Some of us will be dead, others will be newly born. Meanwhile, the rest will go on living as they have done through numerous previous doomsdays.

W3bbo, I would not worry about this. Various people predict the end of the world on a regular basis, and none of these have come to pass. You are much more likely to get hit by a bus, than by a comet.

You are much more likely to get hit by a bus, than by a comet.Especially if you were on a defensive team last year and earlier that tried to defend the goal line against the Steelers.
