Phil,
What! You remember Q&theP? No hang on, the film was made 10 years after the TV series, so I am as old as I think I am.

I hsaw the film, but the original BBC TV series had a much greater impact - I watched the last episode (illegally) while my parents were out. Ooooh-er, Missus! Nightmares for weeks.

The spaceship as unexploded bomb was a very real idea at the time. London was full of bombsites, being excavated for new development and UXBs were not unknown. So, Good Science, even if the metaphysics are bit suspect!

The video of the TV Quatermass and the Pit is a very creepy experience, mainly due to the gradual build-up of suspense and the sound effects, I feel. I watch it every couple of years. Surprise, surprise, one of my colleagues at work has a relative in it - the man who staggers into the pub with a picture under his arm.

If you look at a lot of the Pertwee and Tom baker era Dr Who stories they have a similar feel to them, all very 'Hammer Films' It's some kind of British genre.

I remember seeing "Five Million Years to Earth" many years ago. I really liked it! I saw it again about three years ago, and still liked it!

Much to my amazement, its one of the Bad Astronomer's favorites. :o I feel vindicated!
