First of all I want to start by saying that I have nothing against women in positions of authority and I believe in equality. I just want to say that the CBS evening news just doesn't seem the same since Katie Couric took the helm. It's not so much her as it is the format that they decided to go with. Bring back the old format, (keep Katie) and I'll start watching again.

While I won't say its because of her gender, I will say its likely because its her. Her primary audience watched morning news, not evening news, and because of the air of fluff surrounding said AM news shows, stepping that kind of tripe into the PM's going to get a very cold reception.

Plus its a different network altogether, so she's got another degree of separation from her previous audience which already had pre-established evening newswatching patterns.

I wouldn't know if CBS News is better or worse since Couric took over. They permanently lost me when they tried to pull the "fake but accurate" scam a couple years ago.
