Recently, when I access MSN messenger or sometimes even Internet Explorer, I get a message stating that an error has ocurred and the program needs to close.

That has been happening alot lately and is really annoying. Does anyone know why the error occurs or what I need to do in order to fix it?

I am running Windows ME and Internet Explorer 6.0..........;)

I would hazard a guess that perhaps your local copy of that mshtml.dll got overwritten with a previous version by some errant install program.

Or it could be something else entirely. :) -Richard

Maybe this can help...?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318153

Try Method 2 (the extracting thingy) first before reinstalling IE 6.

Good luck.

TitanaThen there's method 3: Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/).

Third time's the charm...

I think it is very unlikely that the problem is with MSHTML.DLL,
and even more unlikely that the file is corrupted. More likely
by far that some web page or advertisement on a web page
made Internet Explorer call MSHTML.DLL with values it wasn't
designed to handle. Perhaps calling nonexistent subroutines.

Well yes, that would be a definite solution......thanks.....:)

From what I was reading on the link that Layman provided, this problem, I think, only occurs with Internet Explorer 6.0. So I imagine that upgrading the explorer would also solve the problem?
