View Full Version : And The Award For The Moderator With The Highest Body Count Goes To...

So I'm haunting the forums here tonight to ward off the post "having the kids for the weekend" blues. (I hate having to give them back. Even though every single dish I own is dirty and awaiting my attention. I'll do them in the morning)

I got curious as to which moderator has given the most bans and I went to the ol' heave-ho section and counted up who's who. I decided not to count sock puppets being rooted out unless that was the banning reason as that means the guy was already banned. I counted by hand so I might have an error rate of +/- 2.

So I got:

Fraser 1

Fram 1

Duane 2

Matthew 2

Moose 3

Tinaa 4

Josh 5 (The low count surprized me considering how Johnny-on-the-spot he is in potential trouble spots)

Here's where the numbers start to steepen aka "hockeystick" like atmospheric CO2.

Nereid 14 (I was thinking, "How big a jerk do you have to be to get banned by Nereid?" Then as I read them I realized almost all the bannings were for straight up violations of forum mechanics as opposed to someone popping a wingnut or Ad Homming himself out the door. Cool, precise and meticulous. Just like I imagine he/she to be.)

The BA Hisself 17 (He's meaner than he lets on, so I'm not going to poke the bear here. He sent me a PM in October that hurt my feelings. I keep it so I can re-read it when I get fed up with some of the ATM knuckleheads or the goofs in the Conspiracy forum. Keeps me still here)

Toseek 32 (Everybodies favorite Vulcan and Googler, includes me as one of his scalps)

Antoniseb 41! and still not the winner!

And now, Ladies and Gentlemen! I present to you The Terror from Texas! The Austin Annihilator, The Blackhole of BAUTs BadBoys! I give you....

WOLVERINE! Yes Wolverine, the Pitbull of Perdition, has made your baut experiance smoother and saner by banishing no less than 53 enemies of good order and logic from these forums.

Okay, I was going to go on but I think I'm going to stop now. Even though this entire thread was in jest, I'm going to make someone mad. Someone who has a ban button...

Fram 1

Fram never was a moderator.

Neither was Moose. Moose was reporting on bans done by... you know... actual mods.

The sad thing is that that doesn't include most of the spammers, whom we don't bother to report on that thread. I typically ban four or five spammers a day, and I'm just one moderator.

Don, if you're curious, one of the bannings you've attributed to me actually should be attributed to Josh. (Just follow the link for evidence.)

The other two (the poster and sock) were done by the BA himself. That much I remember clearly.

I appreciate the time you (and the other mods) spend keeping these boards free of spam. Thanks!

What tlbs101 said and the fact you guys don't let folks run amok in the signiture section of their ID's. I go to websites that are barely functional because of all the 400x600 pixal flashey bullsugar, twelve stanza emo poetry and/or a two paragragh short story explaining their "furry" online alter-egos...

Toseek - As I tried to point out this was all in jest sir. I used only material I could glean from the reject pile. As a matter of fact I'm sure that if I had posted truely accurate data I would definately warrent some short of investigation.

Moose- I was thinking of not including you and fram's entries, but as I wasn't serious I didn't think it would hurt.

Oh, okay. Do I get bragging rights for having "outshot" Fraser without the benefit of a "gun"?

Very impressive when you consider it is hard for a moose to sneak up on somebody.:D

I do not how Nereid have such patience with some of the posters in the atm threads.

BigDon

My thoughts exactly Davidlpf.

One thing I am starting to notice is the mods are getting away from linking to the offending thread or post. Half the fun of seeing someone you started to really dispise getting the ol' "boot to the rear" is reading where they finally got enough rope to hang themselves.

Doesn't vBulletin have anti-spam software, such as the squiggly characters that a user must type in when registering and having to be activated using a real e-mail address?

Yeah, but we're just about invisible at night.

But you're still noisy. A momma moose and her baby kept crashign through our campsite, just a couple of feet away from our tent before going WHOOOSH! into the large pond next to where we were camping.

About 8 times.

Definately woke us up.

About 8 times.

Never was bit, though...

Yes, and without it there would probably be hundreds of spams a day. But even so there are still easily a half-dozen daily, and probably more.
