Linky (http://www.wacom.com/lcdtablets/index_21UX.cfm) for those who don't know what that is.
Got any comments on it? My wife is drooling over one, but the $2500 pricetag on a student's salary is kinda steep.
Does anybody else make a good pen display?

I drool over those all the time too. What is she going to be using it for? If Art, an intermediate step is the Intuos. Unless she absolutely needs the ability to draw directly on the screen, and/or she is using the Cintiq to make money, it is just a moderately expensive toy

It is for art, and she's determined to draw on the screen otherwise she'll stick with a mouse. :)

Jumpin Jebus on a pogo stick...that screen's worth more than my entire rig, inclusing the 21" flatscreen... Student's salary, nothing. I made 41k last year, and my checkbook wouldn't speak to me for a month if I shelled that out.

Yeah, the computer's more of an accessory to it. :)

Now that's an interesting perspective, and probably a very good one. Something like this is kinda the cornerstone of a very task specific workstation.
If this is really what her heart desires, I'd start saving the proverbial pennies now, or, see if she can work a deal by attaching it to student financial aid, if art is tied to her major.

Actually I'm the student, going back for a Masters. We'll see what we can save up.
