She has been selected to go to the Ipop convention. Out of that big audition I mentioned two weeks ago they selected four. And she was one of them!

(Every been in a room with a hundred or so "TV grade" cute little kids? It's more than a little weird)

Here's Ipop's site: http://www.ipopconvention.com

Now, odd realities are sinking in for me.

If she gets selected for a film project she's going to have to move to L.A. (Horrors!)

I won't be able to cruise "celebrity sites" anymore, for fear of seeing something snarky about my daughter.

I'm going to have to tell her the horror stories I've personally seen regarding dangerous drug use. The ones she wasn't old enough to hear before. The ones too terrible to even relate here. You'ld say I was a perverted liar, some of it was that bad. Nothing fake or made up, I don't have too. I'm not looking forward to that.

I'm sure there is more I don't see yet.

On the upside she said she'll buy me a house when she gets famous.

Well wish her luck.

I just had some Boudin today... along with a flat of fresh boiled crawfish.

I live only 15 miles from the "Cajun border"... :)

Nice going Boo! May you become big in other ways (and don't forget to thank us little people).

The next step is Vegas, but Dad will not be going- Mom is.

...... I'm excited beyond words! It's like wow, ya know? The Ceo/President/Owner person hand-picks the top 3% or less in each JRP location... that like 10 kids or less... Dude, I'm shaking so bad. I'm editing this bunches, but if you were here then you would see all the typos I'm making, lol! Mom called me at work and all she said was "yes" and I nearly screamed on the phone. I want to tell the world!

First though, I need to get sponsors so I can actually go- do any of y'all know how to get them?

Go, Boo, go!

Best of luck to you!

BTW, do you use anything for your appearance (etc.) that would be something a sponsor would like to have promoted?

...I need to get sponsors so I can actually go- do any of y'all know how to get them?Hee-hee; back in the day (when everyone had $), they were called parents... http://www.bautforum.com/images/icons/icon10.gif ...but nowadays---since $ seems to have been outlawed---one must improvise. Are expenses beyond travel, food and lodging anticipated? Are cash awards part of the competition results? (BD's website referral is pretty slim on info, like when and exactly where in LV this takes place, etc.).

For what it's worth, my cousin's kid is an actor, and he's still pretty stable. He's been acting on TV and in the movies pretty much all his life. (You might have seen him shilling for the coal industry on TV commercials or in the very, very bad Unaccompanied Minors.) It's really helpful to have stable parents, or at least ones that are interested in your well-being and willing to keep an eye on you to help ensure that you're doing okay.

I'd consider it a privilege and an honor to keep you posted, as only I can, of course.

Well congradulations! That's gotta be exciting. You ever been to Vegas? It's one of my favorite places (even though I don't gamble). Definately an insomniac's paradise, anyway. I'll wish you good luck, even though i spent 20 minutes yesterday explaining to my gf why there's no such thing as "luck" (she bought a lotto ticket, luck and chance are two seperate things) :-P

I use only certain types of make-up and other cosmetics if that's what you're asking.

No cash rewards, sadly. Only contracts and whatnot. The expenses besides food, lodging and travel (which is in one lump sum that we pay for at JRP and they take care of it) is that I NEED to buy at least 10 new, in-fashion outfits, shoes to match each of them, and a formal dress for the last night. Mothers who have attended told us they reccomend fifteen outfits, just in case a agent want to see you in something in particular, and I can NOT wear the same clothing article twice there, because apparently people will notice.

Personally, I think three skirts, the formal dress, and only five shirts are needed. I can find a pair of black heels to match all of it. But, everybody, including mom, thinks we should go all out.

It takes place July 1st-5th, at the Venecian or however you spell it. Suumer=hot-ness=icky=oh well.

Suumer=hot-ness=icky=oh well.

Tell me about it

I'll be in Vegas for a much geekier reason on July 12-17, and the heat won't be fun...

Congrats though - sounds like an awesome event :D

Good luck :D

What's the geeky reason? It can't be that geeky.

Unless it's LARP.

I know about this.

My son was just getting into mountain bike racing when he had a string of victories in some regional championships. At that time his bike was around $1500. When the mountain bike industry (Specialized, et al) decided to sponsor him, the next level bike was $2500+. At that point, my wallet breathed a sigh of relief!

So yeah, it's pretty geeky...

...Anything that might cause you to succeed in your endeavor would be something that a supplier might see as a promotion...Now there's an idea! Depending on what manufacturers you'd like to choose from, you might approach them with:
(1) evidence of your being selected for the competition, along with what, where and when,
(2) stressing a desire to locate "in-fashion outfits" ideas (or about-to-be in-fashion, since clothing and shoe suppliers work seasons in advance of what's currently in stores).
Maybe they'll get the hint.
If Bebe, Levi's (they have a shoe division, too), Jessica McClintock, or any other SF-headquartered lines meet your criteria, it may be worthwhile appealing to their "local" angle, and many have Community/Public Relations Departments.
At the least, they'll be impressed with your chutzpah! http://bautforum.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
