View Full Version : Lense Flares as PX

Here are some pictures I took of the sun to show just how easy it is to get Lens flares. The camera I used was my FUJI FinPix A100 Digital Camera. These pictures have not been tampered with, just downloaded from my camera onto my computer and then uploaded on to PictureTrail.

I hope that this answers some peoples questions about lense flares.

Notice how on this picture, supposed PX is not only above the sun, but in my front garden too :o

This is a picture taken about 2 seconds after the one above, but at a slightly different angle... Notice how the position of supposed PX has moved

This picture was taken a few minutes later... There is nothing there at all :)

This one is quite scary.... AARRRGGHHH!!!!!! "PX" is coming for me!!! :o

RUN AND HIDE!!!

But seriously.... these pics were all just taken by randomly moving the camera around with the sun in the viewfinder. It will eventually pick something up.

All these people who take these pics, they don't show you the other 40 pics that have NOTHING on them. It took me a good 150 pics to get some with lense flares on. About 50 of them had stuff on, but were obviously lense flares. Im using the ones that are obviously lense flares to illustrate my point.

Here are a couple that could possibly pass as pics Zeta would use to prove its exsisance:

Mid-day sighting

http://pic6.picturetrail.com/VOL174/1022274/1908984/26667156.jpg

And to prove it isnt there...Taken a fraction of a second later.

Sunset sighting (from the same set of pics as the ones above)

http://pic6.picturetrail.com/VOL174/1022274/1908984/26667111.jpg

But notice how it has moved...

I hope this helps people a little :)

Nicely done purplekitten.

Notice how pics from the same apparent vantage point can either have a flare or not? Well, the reason for this is: the camera's angle in relation to the light's path of travel. When the camera is exactly perpendicular to the light's path of travel (90 degree angle) the flare doubles back on itself and back into the bright spot. At any fraction of an angle away from exactly perpendicular and flares begin to move away from the bright spot and into the picture. The more of an angle the camera is to the light's path of travel, the farther away from the bright spot the flares appear to be (test this with a flashlight and a mirror: point the flashlight exatly at itself, and you get no spot of light, but at any other angle, the spot of light moves somewhere else where you can see it).

Good work, PK!

In fact, you should send a couple of these to ZT, just to see what happens. :D

Especially this one (http://pic6.picturetrail.com/VOL174/1022274/1908984/26667111.jpg)

Bravo, PK! You've done it! Welcome to the world of critical thinking! Excellent job! Isn't this nicer than hiding under the bed when someone expels another burst of mental flatulence?

I didn't understand what you meant earlier about your 'lens flare thread' -- I responded on my thread before reading this one. Hope my response over there didn't step on any toes over here.

Once again, congratulations on a job well done!

Have to agree, that is superb work. It shows how essential a good sample of pictures is when taking pictures of the sky. I especially like the fact that PX is currently in orbit of your house... had any pole shift?

PK,

You should post your pics on tt-watch. Want a reaction to them? Post them there! :)

Posting to tt-watch: That's how the gov't tracks you down to send you your monthly check for your debunking efforts. And they give you a really neato decoder ring too!

I also have a picture of a lens falre, taken of the moon. This just kind of shows how easy it is even with the moon. If you look closely you can even see different shapes and color.(I underestimated the amount of time to leave my shutter open. I was trying to get a picture as the moon traversed the sky) :-? .

If you copy and paste it into your URL and click go, then it will show up... Its something to do with Geocities... It hates linking and so it crashes the picture.

This will work as I have done it :)
