It's the Sixth First Annual Semi-Unofficial MidWestern Bad Astronomy Bulletin Board Denizens' HandShakin' EyeBallin' and BullSqueezin's StarGaze, Story Tellin', and Bar-B-Q!!!
Held in conjunction with (but not necessarily with the knowledge of) the Miami Valley Astronomical Society's Apollo Rendezvous to be held in Dayton Ohio on June 15 - 15, 2007, and hosted by the Miami Valley Astronomical Society and the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, this year's Apollo Rendezvouz is also Greatcon 2007, the Astronomical League Great Lakes Region annual convention!
Featured speakers include:
Dr. Bill Owen, a principal engineer and supervisor of the Optical Navigation Group at JPL, speaking on the navigation engineering involved with the 2005 Deep Impact encounter with 9P/Tempel 1.
Dr. Margaret Hanson, Associate Professor of Physics at the University of Cincinnati, speaking on infrared techniques for observing within our own Milky Way galaxy.
Dr. Dale Partin, secretary of the Warren Astronomical Society, speaking on the probability of finding extraterrestrial intelligence.

Light refreshments available from the "Friends of the Museum"!
Box lunches available by preorder only when you order your event tickets! The lunches are from Jimmy John's, a local submarine shop (INSERT BLATANT PLUG -- I've noshed there more than once...the tuna subs are to plotz for...).

(A small note...keep this quiet and amongst us.. please be aware that the Rendezvous and its associated events are our only fundraiser of the year for the MVAS. If you only wish to come and socialize at the SFASUMWBABBDHSEBSSGSTBBQ, a small donation in the box out at the BBQ site would be greatly appreciated. As last year, an amount of $10 is suggested. And for those who care to camp out inside the fence at the observatory for the evening, $5 toward the care and feeding of the telescope would be appreciated. Please notify me IN ADVANCE if you intend to camp out so I can make arrangements for a club member to stay the night on site.)
