I mean I know we've known how to do this in theory, Wireless energy promise powers up (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/6725955.stm) since Tesla's time, but some time I wondered if things had taken the tack Tesla envisioned, instead of Edison, were we would be know?
If the war of the current was not only one by Tesla, but his other visions were realized, like say umm.. radio astronomy(Signals from mars), mass information transfer (The www.), AC (the 21st century) and now his holy grail Wireless power!
Vindicated? Was there a CT on Edison in cahoots with the "robber" bankers of the time, why this technology was not more mature by now, since we had 100yrs of "theory"?
Bloody $$$

Moved to OTB. Not a space/astronomy conspiracy.

lets see, if we taken the tack that Tesla envisioned we would be......
Right where we are, since we did for everything that works.
Broadcast/wireless power systems are inherently lossy systems. The are doable, but they run into efficency problems due to the large area they have to transmit into, and the tendency for nature to put harmonic resonances everywhere.

Hmmm... Let's see, I have an electricity socket over here... ZAPPP!!! Yep, that's Telsa's alternating current and not Edison's Direct current. Looks like Tesla pawned Edison as far as that's concerned.

Um, is the coil thingy always transmitting at a constant rate?
If it is, would it be a waste of electricity?

Oh? We have antigravity, interplanetary electric cannons and thought photography? (Granted, these were all ideas from his later, mentally unstable years.)
We used his ideas that worked. Although many were slow to be adopted and others were credited to the wrong people.
