This is a Long SHOT!
But here goes...

About fifteen years ago, I bought a tape called "Land of the Midnight Sun."

It was synthetically orchestrated music produced by a family in Alaska.

I enjoyed the music but too much I think. I was in foster care at the time, and my foster brother got all mad at me one day and put an axe through the tape in the garage.

I've searched for the band (Same name as the tape) and such all over the web, but no luck.
It's an idle search- not an obsession but still...

Has anyone heard of this? Any ideas on how to find it?

Folks here seem very smart, cultured and resourceful. It occured to me I might be able to find some success by simply asking here:p

Not that I'm aware of but I can't rule it out.

"Land of the Midnight Sun" is such a common reference, that google failed me.

Unfortunately I don't know much.
As I recall, it was a present day production when I bought the tape. That places it somewhere around '92. So it could have been recorded in '90, I just don't know...

I remeber reading the little booklet that comes in the gem case (Or whatever you call the cassette box thingamajigger) and it said that the band was comprised of Ma Pa and son.
It was recorded in Alaska and was synthesized instrumental.

I don't know much else sadly, and although I would know it if I saw it or heard it, that doesn't help much on a net search.

To answer a question asked:

There are no lyrics in the album- all instrumental (synthesized)

and NO it isn't Al Di meola or however you spell it...

Most probably this is not what youīre looking for. But the only thing which came to my mind was

Indian Wedding Lyrics
Artist(Band):Roy Orbison

extract from the lyrics:

Tonight, tonight, We will be one
We'll walk in the land of the midnight sun
Oh White Sands, come hold my lonely hand.

Sorry, if this this way off your interest

Oh I'm familiar with Orbison:p and quite a life he led too!

However, this isn't it.

I've searched everything I can find. I wish I could let it go but... maybe its a minor obsession after all. Now that I started a thread on it- it is really gonna bug me.

Aside from going to Alaska and knocking on doors, I have no idea how to look...

It's kind of like those displays you see in big stores and at malls, of easy listening, instrumental, ocean waves; You don't really see a familiar or big name band. You can press a button and listen to a sample.
Back in those days they didn't have those displays, but it was essentially the same thing.

ETA: Thank you for your input DHD40. Reading my reply it looks like I brushed you off. That wasn't my intention.;)
