Hi again Forum ,

My question is very simple ,

What is the Diffrence between Mirror and Lens?

How Dobsonia Telescopes works , Please tell me in detail about it with refrence to Astro science and Optics.

Thanks ,

Venus.

Have a look at these following wikipedia pages, they describe the difference quite well, click the links of each type of telescope for more detailed info including diagrams.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telescopes
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refracting_telescope
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reflecting_telescope

Hope this helps.

Oh a Dobsonian scope is actually a Newtonian reflector, the name "Dobsonian" comes from the name of the person who invented the Dobsonian fork mount. strictly speaking it should be described as a dobsonian mounted newtonian reflector.

The Dobsonian mount is also a very simple telescope mount that can be made with simple tools, out of plywood, glue, and screws, with a saber-saw and hand tools. Almost the only other parts to it are the plastic rings the telescope tube swivels in elevation on, the piece of plastic the mount turns in azimuth upon, and the nylon plastic furniture glides the rings and the other plastic ride on. The motion in azimuth or in elevation (altitude) is smooth, even, and without any backlash or vibration. The mount is strong and stable. This is a tremendous value for the money you spend getting the materials.

It is an alt-azimuth mount rather than an equatorial mount, so it's rather tricky to get the 'scope to follow the motion of the sky's stars as the world turns beneath them. This kind of mount is inconvenient, therefore, for astro-photography.

A lens bends light, a mirror bounces it.

There, does that help you???
