View Full Version : Should ATM threads show up in Google searches?

Even though I'm a dedicated ATM poster, I wonder if BAUT can or should restrict the availability of ATM threads to search engines like Google?
I did a search for "energy density equalization" and my ATM thread was fourth on the Google results. And if that is not bad enough, the referenced post was a poem.

Sure, I think they should. If somebody finds an ATM thread through Google, they'll see the proponent's arguments and, usually, counter arguments. I don't see why that shouldn't be on google. Though, I have been surprised how often a BAUT thread (not always ATM) turns up high on science/astronomy related Google searches.
One thing: I do try to avoid including links to websites in quoted material when I'm responding to a new poster that seems to be here primarily to promote that website. I want to discuss ideas, not help their promotion.

is this it?
Per PM request:
Ode to Radiation
What is it that we see out there?
A most unnoticed sensation,
It’s every where, it’s every where,
It’s electromagnetic radiation.
Could it have been there all the time?
Whose source defies location?
As enduring and perpetual
As Energy density equalization?
Do you think they’ll know about it at
NASA administration?
If not perhaps then we could ask
The Federal bureau of investigation .

OK, maybe I should have said, "a silly poem".

That's the thing about the internet: Once you've written it, it will probably remain until the electrons die. So, think a little about what you write, and for things you've already written that you'd rather not be remembered, the only thing you can do is try not to call attention to it. :)

what if you edited the post...would it not filter through to Google...eventually?

you could put a dress on and jump around shouting "I'm Phyllis McGinley <inappropriate content removed> to the science!"
just an idea
Edit by Tinaa: Inappropriate content removed

just an idea:DI'm not so sure that is a very good idea.
What about if I get a PR guy to handle this ?

Why? Don't want the world to know that BAUTites discuss such things? :eh:

Well, BAUT cannot restrict, and should not restrict.

Please do not edit your post to remove content.
11. Editing & Revisionism
Edit your posts with care. There's no problem with editing a post later to change the tone or to correct spelling and the like. But changing content is not allowed! This is a slippery path that can be seen as revisionism. You may edit your post for up to 24 hours. Also, when quoting other posters, you may trim the text down to brief snippets to address something in particular, but do not misquote others or alter their content to suggest they've stated things which they haven't.

The only way to keep the Googlebots out would be by making ATM a hidden forum that can only be read by members.
Kind of defeats the purpose.
