...at least, that's what I'm guessing.
You know how we sometimes gripe about how astronomers, or scientists in general, never get the kind of recognition that sports or entertainment celebrities get?
Last night, at a public viewing event in conjunction with a performance of Holst's The Planets, after I got done looking through one at Saturn, my ear caught a snippet of conversation from the scope's owner, while talking to someone else, "...Adam Block...."
Adam Block?? I know that name! So, I asked if I'd understood correctly that he was Adam Block (I hadn't even caught enough context to know if he'd been referring to himself or not), and then, whether he had a fair number of APODs to his credit. "Yep, that's me."
It didn't occur to me at the time, but I suppose that must feel pretty good for him, when he gets actual name recognition in public for his many APODS. :D
