I'm trying to find a record of the weather over the past month or so for a given city or town (say Louisville or Nashville). I'm mostly interested in whether it was cloudy or clear for that area. Does anyone know of a website that would have this information?
I've looked a bit, but I've been trying to do three other things at once for my students for the past few hours. Thanks in advance.

Every country has a meteorology service. Just Google it.

National Weather Service (http://www.nws.noaa.gov/)
I know they have historic data on this website, you'll have to go digging.

Kentucky Hourly Weather Observations (http://wwwagwx.ca.uky.edu/cgi-public/hourly_www.ehtml)
For instance, 2000, January 1, 0000 and 0100:
YrMnDyHr LOCATION SKY/WX TEMP DEWPT RH WIND PRES REMARKS
2000010100 LOUISVILLE/SDF CLEAR 35 31 85 CALM 30.13
2000010101 LOUISVILLE/SDF CLEAR 34 31 89 CALM 30.12
Found, I think, through NWS page for Louisville (http://www.weather.gov/climate/index.php?wfo=LMK), and selecting Local Records tab and grabbing a link there. Nashville (http://www.weather.gov/climate/index.php?wfo=ohx) may offer different, but it looks like some history is available.

Try the Weather Underground site (http://www.wunderground.com/). Put in your Zip Code and then click one of the local weather stations. You can get daily or weekly info on solar.

A few records:
In Denmark the May that just ended was the month with the most sunshine hours recorded (347), recordings started 1920.
It was also the spring (March, April, May) season with most sunshine hours(663), beating the previous record (March, April, May 2007) by 2 hours.

Not the definition of "record" I was going for, but interesting nonetheless. Sounds quite possible for my area, too.
