would it be a good idea for Google to arrange, so that if someone clicks on an old link, in a forum, or blog or something, and that if the link is dead, that Google could redirect you to a basic, ASCII code version of that link(including links in that ASCII version of that page, though).


or is it better to let links just fall away?


perhaps it could be called GoogleGhost, or perhaps just GoogleArchive.

I would imagine that would present some copyright problems. Though I wonder about archiving. . .

Sometimes it's a bit slow and misses bits, but I have used it for some dead sites occasionally.
