It would be difficult, perhaps, but I could still get by. It's the best thing invented since the wheel.
I can see why people get addicted!!
it add's another dimension to your life

I was hatched in 1951 and got along fine without it for decades. If it disappeared I'd read more books.

could you live without the internet!!
Yes
It would be very hard, I would have to subscribe to lots of Engineering and Software Magazines, my employer would have to revamp the library.....yeeesh it would be hard.
Currently if we get a new Microprocessor, you download a few free sample code/examples from related forums and Bob is your uncle!!!
If you run into a problem, google is your friend and voila!

Yes, if everybody else had to as well. As it stands now, the internet mitigates a lot of the deprivation (in the lack of services sense) that one can experience living in an intensely rural area.

But, for my baby, it might be not so easy, as it opens (almost instantaneously) the wonders of our Universe for him, with a few clicks of a mouse!
And my sweetheart's shopping?....yikes!

Internet's Invader's blood marches through my veins like giant radioactive rubber pants! The pants command me! Do not ignore my veins!! http://i30.tinypic.com/rlz4ib.png
In short: No. I cannot live without it. http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/5779/x31pt9.gif

One could get accustomed to anything. Yes, but not easily.

Many are the days when I feel like chucking the whole thing and going back to a piece of parchment, a pot of mulberry ink and a well-trimmed quill. While watching Captain Video and Cavalcade of Stars on the DuMont Network.

Well I lived without T-bones most of my life, until I moved out and bought my own food, but now that I have experienced a good steak, I certainly can't go back. The same goes for the internet. I have become so dependant on it's existence that going back to the phone book and paper encyclopedia's just a thought I can't bear to contemplate. (no matter how I typed it, encyclopedia just didn't look right so I had to google it to make sure)

No way. Without the Internet, there go all my ways of making trouble in this world. A yahoo group and a blog have been my main methods of reaching people to create a local political opposition in my town. As a prolific writer, I've used the Internet to organize support for the reinstatement of Pluto as a planet, have met like-minded people all over the world, and have communicated with professional astronomers in ways I never could otherwise. When it comes to making one's voice heard on any subject, the Internet is literally a jackpot. And for non-conformist types with unusual interests, it's a great way to meet friends who share those interests. The way I like to put it, instead of having to look for the needle in the haystack, you can immediately zero in on the needle. Also, the quick, easy access to information on any subject is priceless.

I could live without it, but I would find it hard keeping in touch with my son and my sister who are serving in the forces, snail mail would make life hard once again. Grrrrr damn you snails, take those shells of your backs you might be a lot quicker!!!!!!!!!

So, yeah, my point exactly. It's a half-empty/half-full argument, I guess. With a third option: half-cocked. :)

Lived without it for 30 years, been online for 10...love the internet! :)
Besides it truly being "The Information Superhighway" [in itself a tremendous bonus; remember paper encyclopedias and being at the mercy of what the local library MIGHT have in terms of resource material??] I've had the opportunities to encounter people [particularly from other nations] I'd not have otherwise, and have made 3 or 4 good, long-term friends.
However, I've beat its "addictive" power. But still love it.
And no, I wouldn't want to be without it again.
