When performing polar alignment on a Meade 10" LX200 GPS, if you live west of Greenwich DO NOT enter a positive number in the SITE menu asking how many time zones you are away from GMT. Unless you intend to study neutrino flux through the body of the earth.
Anyone else have a confession to make?

Well, I once told my Celestron C6-R to go to the Christmas Tree cluster. It aimed right at the horizon, and sure enough, when I looked through the scope, there was a cluster of pine trees.
Next time, make sure it has risen before looking for it!

My confession: I've been into astronomy for over 10 years and have never polar aligned a telescope. Guess that's what happens when you own dobs...

LOL if only that were true!

Considering we share the same weather patterns (approx. 6 weeks clear skies/year) the gray was probably well-earned without polar alignment.

No kidding! Even grayer this year than usual. Nice to see the weather finally clearing up.

Don't feel bad guys, I hear we have fewer clear days/nights than you Northwest astronomers.
Talk about gray.
