A smiley story, for those not familiar with this "art form" is a funny story told with emoticons. Here is a very simple one:

:hand: You cannot pass.
 That makes me mad! I will throw a pie in your face!
*Throws pie*

People sometimes tell the plots of whole movies using this format. On this website, I did the same thing for the history of the Space Age in nine parts (Seven and eight were originally supposed to be one).

Part 1- Rocket Science- Post 141
Part 2- Sputnik- Post 149
Part 3- The Race is On-165
Part 4- The Moon- 168
Part 5- Unity and Vikings-170
Part 6- Voyager/STS- 172
Part 7- Comet Halley/Mir- 179
Part 8- The X-Prize- 180
Part 9- The Future Looks Bright- 181

Some humor specific to that site:
The green smiley is Mr. Joe. He is a complete idiot.
Hot Pink Bunnies are pure evil.

Please read these and tell me what you think!

I'm such an idiot...
I thought it was against the rules for an ad-hom attack on a poster.

I think it's allowed if you're insulting yourself.
Did you read the story?

A small bump just because I would REALLY like somebody's opinion on this. Please?
(Now where is the smiley for "bambi eyes"?)

I liked them. They're funny, in a Robot Chicken sort of way. :)

Thanks, guys. I wasn't sure what other space fans would think of it.

Oh, and congrats in advance on your 8,000th post, Neverfly!

Which of the jokes did you like best, geonuc?

Did you read the story?
Yeah, I did. But; I kind of kept quiet because it just wasn't my cup of tea. It's hard to say that without making it sound insulting.
I only saw the smilies as an aid to the story, not really a form in itself because that is what smilies were designed for in the first place.

That's okay, NEO Watcher. Did you like the jokes in the story itself, though?

Speaking for myself, I have not looked anything over. What I saw in the OP was a list of posts in various threads ( I think) Which I haven't had time to actually go and hunt them all down.

Dang. You made me have to go back and read it again.

Not one thing in particular. I like how you hit the high points of the space race with humor and how you incorporated stuff like Wonder twins, Star Wars, Star Trek and the like.

This is funny because your humor's so quick and simple:

That was essentially what happened, wasn't it?
