Okay so its time for me to vent a little.
I run a fleet of university buses. We have 16 and I'm not only the fleet manager I'm also the only tech in the place. So the shop consists of me. This includes data entry into the arcane database - which is so top-heavy complex that there is a 200 page book on HOW TO ENTER AN ITEM INTO INVENTORY. I mean give me a freaking break.
This and the next two weeks are DOT inspections. This is nerve-wracking and is giving me ulcers. I need 100% to pass.
In the "front office" here there is a supervisor that has too much time on his hands. I call him "Sticker Dave". He's tried to spend thousands of dollars of *my* budget (sneaking purchase orders in under the radar) on *stickers* for warning labels and so on. We have an above ground fuel tank here and a good 75% of it is stickers of various warnings and instructions. He even labeled the bathroom with HOW TO FLUSH THE TOILET. (No I'm not kidding. He also has stickers on the door explaining how to lock it and shut off the lights)
So anyway its time to kick him out of my area for good.
For crying out loud, man. Get a freaking life and stop messing with my stuff.

For your sake, I hope 'Sticker Dave' isn't a BAUT reader. With your profile location and the info in this thread, you pretty much ID'd yourself.
Sorry your job stinks. Mine does too.

I like my job and I work with a great group of people. I get to run on my lunch hour with my boss and a few other people here. I'm sure there are some things I'd change if I could, but that would be true anywhere. It would also be a plus if I made a lot more money.

He even labeled the bathroom with HOW TO FLUSH THE TOILET.
Depressingly it seems that there are people who need that as they don't seem to be able to remember how to do it on their own (would it really be wrong to fit toilet stalls with a device to shock people who don't flush the toilet when they are done?).

"Sticker Dave" needs something applied directly to forehead.

My cubicle is too small and it's too far to the copy machine. Jerry on the other side of the floor, who's closer to the copy machine, says it's too far to the men's room. His cubicle is also too small.

...He even labeled the bathroom with HOW TO FLUSH THE TOILET.
Now that's funny. I used to drive a school bus just across the border in Ontario. 95% of the time the toilet in the yard office would be unflushed with someone's log in it. I even taped a sign up one day that said "if you're old enough to work here, you're old enough to flush!" but it didn't seem to do anything and dissapeared after a few days. Maybe that particular sticker isn't as unnecessary as you think...
Incidently you're now the second upstate New Yorker in the commercial bussing trade that I know through message boards.

Though at the other end of the scale try finding meaningful employment when you have a seizure disorder. I was injured in the Navy and have several seizures a year.
The problem being I am considered an "insurance risk". I seize, fall down on the job, and their insurance rates go up. (if the don't let me go) I can't tell you how many times a local manager who loved my work had to let me go because headquarters made them.
Oh that reminds me, when I get home I'm going to start a thread about the realities of a "human resources" dept. (I'm on a laptop at the moment and can't type on it to save my life.)

CDW just sold the a US government agency an $8000.00 server to host a web site on when a 400 dollar computer would have been sufficient.
Bad CDW.
I am complaining because nobody caught the error and this seems to be common practice between contractors and government agencies., at least then we know where some of the "money" goes.
arugh..

I think a LOT of companies are "oversold" on computer equipment. But I also think its easier to over-sell on a government contract. As an example, NYSDOT's NYVIP computer. Don't even get me started on that lump of crap.

If you actually work for that government agency, you can give an anonymous tip to their Office of General Council or the Inspector General.

I have nothing to complain about. I'm around beautiful women all day and great job security. I can only get fired if I get caught stealing or the store closes, since it's been around since the 50's and in a prime location, I doubt it.

Just remember, they wouldn't be called human resources if they weren't meant to be strip mined. Not my joke originally (http://freefall.purrsia.com/ff400/fv00339.htm).

Hi, I am a carpenter, and my complaint is about the dust, especially the concrete
and drywall dust which threatens my existence . Nothing's easy.

My complain is about a boss who after agreeing on specs made changes to the purchasing order on the advice of the salesdrone from HP.
As a result we've had deployment of a multi-million kroner computing cluster delayed for half a year so far because nothing is the same as in the test cluster that was purchased specifically to find all problems before buying the big one.
Ok, half a complaint as I wasn't brought in until 2 months ago and is now fixing the silly thing for 140$/hour.
The real complaint is that the people I'm working with are close to burnout and that's not a fun situation to be in.
