When I think about the possibility of such a disaster to a supertanker, I am mindful of this interview (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcU4t6zRAKg) and my fears are slightly assuaged.

[This is a great comedy skit]

Because of many people's deep seated and quite rational fear of seeing Rick Astley, please don't link directly to videos without a warning. You could give someone a heart attack out of fear alone.

In Japan, it was horrible.

He's refering to the act of "RickRolling" where a YouTube link goes to Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" unstead of its purported video. Ronald is understandably asking that if someone is going to bring up a topic, don't just post a link, but actually say what the link contains.

He is a bass-baritone. The anti-falsetto. The beast with many hits.

In the case of humor, is a warning really necessary?

I don't know. My heart is strong, but other people may have bandwidth issues.

In the case of humor, is a warning really necessary?Common courtesy for any video; in addition to bandwidth concerns for some is that most videos have sound---something a viewer's current environment may not welcome. :)

I feel really silly asking but was that interview serious? It had the quality and timing of a Monty Python skit.
okay so that was a comedy skit. I should have read the comments before posting

I added that it is a comedy skit. When I was directed to it originially, I was told otherwise, but I realized shortly that it had to be an act.

Well now I know what you meant by:

But for some reason, I thought you were talking about Rick Astley. Don't ask me why.

I was howling with laughter at this one, although I've seen some real interviews which may as well have been comedy skits for how idiotic the participants sounded.:lol::lol:

You will likely see a number of other skits done by them in similar manner. The whale dieing of old age is quite funny, too.

I saw the short version recently, and I swear it was discussed on this board as an example of politician talk. But; I can't seem to find it.

I thought it was funny.

I couldn't find it either, but figured it was bound to be here somewhere.

Tanker with 22 aboard stranded off coast of Galveston (http://weatherblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2008/09/tanker-with-22-aboard-stranded-off-coast.html)September 12, 2008
There's a 594-foot freighter stranded in the Gulf of Mexico, about 90 miles off Galveston. And it's going to have to stay there, the Coast Guard says...hauling petroleum coke...

Ouch, that can't be good. Looks like they will stay and probably anchor once they get in more shallow water. 50 foot waves is very ugly! I've been in 25 foot seas in a much smaller vessel and it was not pleasant.

Well, I think that it's because the ships in China and, like, the Iraq, don't have bolts.

On the subject of Rickrolling, I came across this (http://hmatkin.blogspot.com/2008/09/john-mccain-gets-barackrolld.html) the other day and thought it was pretty funny.

And must've taken quite a bit of work to put together, as well.
