View Full Version : "Wow" versus "Shock and Awe"

Basically, you have to get something done, with two ways to do it. One way is the "Wow", which is just being above and beyond expectations. The other way is "Shock and Awe", which is the... surprising way to do the task. Then the person names the next task.
I'll start (obviously):
Task: Give the smoothie to the patron.
Wow: Hand to them with a friendly smile and a thank you. :)
Shock and Awe: Throw it to them with a friendly smile and thank you.
The next task:
Bake your grandmother a birthday cake.

S & A: Let the 86 candles bake it and wish her a happy year.

Wow: Get on your computer, do the adequate research and write an interesting but factual history report.
Shock and Awe: Find a telephone booth that doubles as a time machine, travel through time and bring the predominant figures from the time period to speak for you.
Next task:Decorate your house!

WoW: Co-ordinate the furnature in each room so that each are distinct, but create a total feeling of cohesion with the house as a whole.
Shock and Awe: Hand craft every peice of furnature and woodwork (floors, trim, doors, cabinets, etc.) from extinct trees (http://www.bautforum.com/off-topic-babbling/80365-have-you-heard-making-furniture-extinct-trees.html?highlight=trees) (using only a pocket knife).

Shock and Awe: Realizing you heard "Donation of the Bees", and totally playing it off by going to a corner in Belize, with a pink bee suit.
Task: Planning a New Year's Eve party for your colleagues. (:p)

Wow: Service the tank, along with the rest of the crew, as you were hired to do (why wow? 'Caust that's still a pretty cool job).
Shock and Awe (and criminal complaint): "Service" the tank...in broad daylight...infront of a group of tourists.
Task: Redesign BAUT's User Interface (not that it needs it!)

Shock and Awe: Doctoral dissertations in Klingon, Old Elvish, the dark language of Mordor (which I will not utter here), ancient chinese (your choice of dialect) rendered in binary, and that African language with the glottal stops.
New Task: Build a better mousetrap.

You know, we're doing the Age of Revolution in Social Studies class, and Karl Marx made me think of this game:
Task: Do something about the poor conditions of industrial workers.
Wow: Plan to lobby for a change to labor laws.
Shock and awe: Plan to overthrow all businesspeople everywhere and create a society without social classes.

Cut the grass
Wow: Build a mower with standard hardware store parts. Mow lawn.
Shock and Awe: Following Mike's inspiration: knit an entire flock of sheep using standard goodwill store woolens. Never mow the lawn again.
Next task: Open a can of tuna.
Difficulty: Tuna should end up in a sandwich, while the tuna water should be separated into a bowl for the cats. Both tuna and water must remain untainted and tasty.
