I owe you photos, and here they are. They're not actually the first I've taken, but they are more in line with what we all want to see.
"Happy Camper" school or Field Survival Training Program, FSTP, is a requirement for all first year USAP participants. It is also a lot of fun. We camped on or in snow and ate rations like a group might do in a deep field or survival camp. The group was small, so we all got to know each other, and in the end we learned a lot. These are probably some of the beter photos of Antarctica I'll get since I'm in camp most of the time. Next time some photos of McMurdo and our project.

Enjoy, and I'll catch you later.

It is a lot of fun. We're working hard too. There is a lot to do before Christmas. Maybe after that I'll have more time to "recreate". Somehow that became a word down here.

yea, 30 in the day, 0 at "night". Of course the sun doesn't get any lower in the sky this time of year. When we're working hard and the sun beats down on us without wind it can get quite warm dressed like that.
When the wind blows everyone puts it all back on.

So, does the frozen water spin the other way in the toilet? (remembering Bart Simpson's phone call).

Ha Ha!
is that like asking how much dirt is in a hole 1 meter wide by 2 meters long by 4 meters deep?

Cool, CC! I especially liked your pics of ChristChurch. Books, hot chocolate, a warm fire...

Well, as always Cross, amazing. I can safely say, however, that I admire your adventure but not your location. I hate the cold. Though seeing those pictures makes me feel silly for complaining about 30-degrees-and-breezy. :)

Man, you won't believe this, our highs have been around 30. And it stays that way most of the day. Only two days so far have been "bad" weather with high winds and one cloudy. It's actually not uncomfortable (the pictures show more of how real Antarctica may appear, but here at McMurdo it's not even ice covered).
I bet you'd rather have my forecast (http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=mcmurdo&wuSelect=WEATHER) than your own.

Heh, crosscountry, you may well be right. It's warmer there than it is here at the moment.

That is rad!
I, for one, am jealous. Since I can't actually go to Antarctica right now, I settled for an RSS feed to my google home page.
Keep the stories coming!

Thanks for subscribing. I don't only post about Antarctica; it's just my current adventure.

I did notice that later. If I lose interest later I can always drop it, but for the moment anyway it's caught my eye!

I still have other stories maybe worth typing up. Hopefully I'll get another post out in a day or two.
