what's a 30-06 cartidge?

It's generally pronounced "thirty ought six".

It has something to do with printers...

That's my way of avoiding saying that eric likes to play with guns.

er...

Well, so do I, so...

Good hunting, Eric! Black bear, mountain sheep, or pronghorn? I don't know what's on or off which hunting/preserved lists, so...

I received several cool presents. A marshmallow gun for harassing the cats, a jar of sourwood honey from the Mast General Store, a 7-fold tie, a gift certificate from NewEgg.com that's going toward a flight sim control yoke. Merry Christmas to you all.

Actually I don't like to kill little animals. But we've got some coyotes that we think have been eating our kitties. Rather than killing the coyotes my strategy is to keep them frightened enough to stay away. If you kill them the next generation won't have that knowledge.

We had one sitting on the other side of our lake a few weeks ago. I put a .30-06 round about two feet away from him at about 200 yards. He left in a hurry and I've not seen him since.

Oh yes, Janet got a kiln for Christmas. And I also got $500 that I'm going to buy a programable logic controller for my drag bike with.

I have a pistol but I do not use it. As a matter of fact I want to sell it. My brother is a gun fanatic and I am trying to set an example.

I got a pecan pie from a complete stranger. I leave other families alone on Christmas as they want to be with their relatives. I do not impose on anybody on this day.

My mother called me Sunday to tell me that she was in the middle of wrapping my presents and would mail them Monday. All things considered, if I get them before Saturday, I will be greatly surprised. On the other hand, Graham gave me a lovely puzzle with images from all of Shakespeare's plays on it. (I'll be leaving in a little under two hours for his family's gathering. They get together late, and they don't exchange presents until after dinner. Is that weird to anyone else?)

I thought that 30-06 cartridge was a printer cartridge of some sort. they do cost a small fortune. silly me.

Should have known what you guys are talking about and being cool.
well, whatever makes your cup of tea!

Nevertheless, have a Happy Christmas!

A bit.
Here we traditionally do the gifts thing after dinner on the 24th rather than early on the 25th.
This is not strange to me as both are on the same day on the roman calendar where Χmas was originally defined (its days were counted from sunset to sunset rather than midnight to midnight).

After dinner on the 25th is doing it a day late and therefore a bit strange.

26-December-2008, 06:06 AM
My "best": a puncture repair kit for taking with me when motorcycling, and another avatar painting from my Daughter (see avatar for my Fathers day gift).

Was nice to have my folks over, for a change, at my new house. Tons of good food and relaxing doing nothing.

My Wife & Kids, my sister-in-law, my sister-in-laws brother-in-laws girlfriend and an old school friend of my sister-in-law are in the lounge doing singstar right now...

Haven't had the chance to do Christmas yet - I'm waiting until I'm home with the folks and my son (That's by far the biggest pre$ent).

But I bought Dragon Naturally Speaking 10, so that I can look cool wearing a headset and speaking to my laptop on the plane. I also bought Home Designer Suite 8, designed by Chief Architect, Inc., but marketed by Better Homes and Gardens. These programs are a lot easier to use these days than they used to be!

We all go to our parents house on the 24th and open our gifts, it is just great being with the rest of my family and this year we were all home. I was spoilt rotten again my son didn't know what to get me and opted to buy a couple of DIY books I love knocking things down and rebuilding again:D my daughter got me some make-up and a "Clanger" a kids programme I used to watch when I was younger (a favourite I may add) one of my favourite prezzies is the full box set of "Lost". I could go on but I will spare you the details.

I've celebrated Christmas on Dec. 28th (not this year, but previous years). My sister couldn't come to the family home on the 25th and my parents wanted everyone to celebrate together. My mother didn't think the specific date was too important.

I got some gift cards from bookstores for my birthday on Christmas Eve and I love to shop for books so that was nice. :)

This year i wanted to take the focus off the material side of xmas, and seeing as half my family were scattered all over the globe i made a special effort to look after my parents and ensure their day was memorable. Yet i still did well out of the presents! My dad got me a planisphere which i was exstatic to get until i realised it was for the southern hemisphere and i live in Ireland:doh: bless my dad lol I also got a few astronomy books which i;ve had my head stuck in. My boyfriend gave me a new riding helmet and a very dapper black hunting jacket. :)
Next year i plan on doing volunteer work to help the homeless etc, the feeling of making people happy by giving was fantastic:)

There may be more method to the madness than you realize.

Since you live in the Northern Hemisphere, the northern sky is readily and easily accessible to you.

So materials that give you study of that which is not readily accessible can be more valuable than the other.;)

Although, I admit, planispheres are mainly used when viewing...
Option B is you can start dropping the hints to your BF of a trip to Australia.

Thank you neverfly, i have since been talking of a trip to Australia yet my bfs excuse not to go is the global recession:mad: when i really know its the thought of being on a plane for that length of time!
I will still try learn from the planisphere and my dad knows nothing of the easily made mistake:)

If you and your boyfriend get around to making the trip, let me know - I can let you know of some great dark sky sites around here (one hour or so north of Sydney).

I had a great Christmas - a new Fender & amp. Sweet! :)

Book has gone missing. We finally had our Xmas Eve opening yesterday (Saturday) with just ourselves and it didn't turn up. It seemed we had forgotten to bring it to the vacation home for the event and it was still back at the main place. I've now returned to the main place. It doesn't seem to be here either. Double Grrr.

By the way, we're now on our 17th or 18th day of snow on the ground here in the great NorthWet. Unheard of. Much worse here in Everett, WA, than in Port Townsend where we spent the past week, or Tacoma where my parents live. I couldn't get the car into the driveway. A kindly neighbor with a tractor plowed it for me.

Nice!

It's a good read. A couple sections made me wish Dr. Plait had written my high school science textbooks.

For my part, the piece of loot I'm most excited about is enrollment in a sailing certification course. Now all I need is a sailboat.

This brought tears to my eyes. I got presents but none were wrapped or under the tree. On Christmas Eve, our tradition is to have a nice dinner, bake cookies, then they get to open one present. It's always Christmas pajamas and a new robe. My girls were in panic mode when they realized that there was nothing for me to unwrap on Christmas Eve. My eight year old, wrapped my remote control, so I had something to tear open. My Twelve year old took one of beanie babies, a seal, and altered it with construction paper to make it a dolphin. When I woke up in the morning, there was something under my covers. My eight year old put the stuffed animal that she earned with points from class, in my stocking and told me Santa must have stopped by my room (don't make that creepy!). It was a very touching Christmas.

I got that one last year...

This year I got a whole house cleaning.

That's cleaned up, not cleaned out..;) in other words, maid service, not loss of possessions.
