Greetings and Felicitations, Hip, Hip, Hoorah, Tally Ho!
For reasons of National Security, (No... really... have you actualy read the ITAR regulations?) I'm been required to register semi-anonymously, which is not my preferred method or style. Those of you who might want to guess who I am, and do, will understand immediately why it would be necessary for someone in a position such as mine would simply HAVE to remain anonymous on this level. Phil and Fraze would understand, immediately, I'm sure.
Let's just be minimalist for the moment, and on a strictly "need to know" basis, allow me to introduce myself to this celebrated forum as a humble planetary scientist of some reputation. I am degreed in astronomy and geology and am overpaid for working for a small start-up company presently headquartered at Research Triangle Park between Durham and Raleigh in North Carolina. I'm also spending too much time, of late, at something called the Global TransPark, to the east. My present project is work in support of two teams qualified to compete for the Google Lunar X-Prize, which lately seems, at least in their cases, more attainable than I would have dreamed possible at this stage. (WAY ahead of schedule.)
If you track back to the Lunar Pioneer and Lunar Networks Blog, you'll be in the right orbit, but in need of far too much Delta-V to align that orbital plain with my own. Like a lot of other folks with names you may or may not recognize, we are not anywhere listed or named on either of those sites, though we are part of the LPR Group, and I'm free to say as one of that "Society of Friends Exploring Earth's Moon," I was a member in solid standing of two of the groups that merged to form the LPR Group since December 1992.
But enough about you, let's talk about me. "Action unites, words often divide." - C.S. Lewis
As to the rest, I share Phil's distain for Bad Astronomy, and define stupidity as "deliberate ignorance." Non-Locality, for example, is strange and bizarre enough without having to bring wannabe "wild and crazy" ideas into the mix. You just can't make Reality up, why "gild the lily?"
Otherwise, I have more patience with the ignorant and misinformed than most scientists, and agreed with my friend Dr. Schmitt when he recently wrote "Consensus", as many have said, merely represents theabsence of definitive science."
All in all, I would also agree with the statement, "non est ad astra mollis e terris via..."
Looking forward to finally being able to participate in this forum, my respectful greetings to you all!
