View Full Version : A (seeming) ruination factor

Is it just me, or do others here often experience the sudden intrusion of something/someone which ruins a (real life) discussion or activity?

Last week a (real life) friend and I were talking astronomy and pro-manned space exploration. Enjoying the discussion. Soon another person came along (innocently) who's opposed to manned space exploration.

Disagreement came up; stances were taken; the opposition "insists" we're wrong.

I generally don't mind opposition and disagreement, but on that occasion I would have preferred the 1-on-1 agreeable conversation had continued. :boohoo:

Does this happen a lot to you? Or am I perhaps jinxed in this regard?

Few people agree with me, so I dunno. ;)
But seriously, yeah it happens. It happens on here quite often, though we call it thread hijacking. You're always going to have it to some degree though; conversations branch and sometimes it's away from what you wished to discuss. Solong as it's not done maliciously or purposely, I don't mind. It may be dissapointing that the conversation strays from an original interest, but at least here, the conversations usually good no matter where it ends up.

Lol! :D

Lots of times (real life) it doesn't bother me. The other day it did. ::shrugs:: We were having such a nice talk and rarely does an M.D. listen carefully/respectfully to what I might have to say about science and whatnot. :p

I know,
i'm usually very calm and easy going in my nature, i am always happy to listen and take on-board people's opinions. But sometimes some person comes along and totally disrupts things.really rubs me up!:naughty: I just blow my top, i just release all that built up frustration and let them have it.:evil: Usually afterwards, when i have calmed down, i get a little embarrassed of my behaviour and attitude..:o
