I just stumbled across this -- that loathsome TMZ has put up a couple photos of the crazy Octuplet mother right before she was about to give birth. It looks like some sci-fi horror thing with some rabid alien hybrid implant about to claw itself out and eat its mother whole.

Language warning, there.
I hope they manage to at least pull the license of the doc who created this montrosity. It seems the woman got some 6-figure settlement from the state of CA (what exactly, I don't know) and she used that to pay that doctor. You'd think 6 figures would immediately be used to help raise the six kids she already has, some of whom have problems, but no she used it to implant 8 more.

The settlement was workers' compensation after she got injured in a riot while working at a mental hospital. As for having money to raise the kids, she says she'll have enough money for them after she finishes her Master's Degree. However, she hasn't really explained how she's going to get a degree and raise 14 kids at the same time. :(

TMZ, the blatent paparazzi group that is now responsible for this obviously "not right" person recieving death threats from all the trash that watchs that particular show?
I wouldn't follow that link without all your anti-spyware up and running.

TMZ is very annoying and I'd punch them in the face if any of them got close to me, but sadly, they are atypical of the people in West LA.
One, she's already receiving child support for the previous six children, which is probably around $500 per kid per month.
I don't think she's crazy nor is anyone here a licensed psychologist that is capable of ascertaining that.
There's a lot hate flying in her direction. Which I find unnecessary, as there are plenty of multiple births, similar to what happens in a clown car act all over the states, yet some how she is irresponsible?
So if she watched the Simpsons ten too many times and wanted to have octuplets, so be it. It's her life.

Octomom, yet another non-event feast for the media to force feed the mindless masses with bovine excrements.
How's congress doing on that finacial recovery bill?
Any advances in Afghanistan?
How many people were killed by drunken drivers today?
Is octofetus really important?

Nope; You got some bad information there. But; the real information isn't any better.
3 kids on disability (not known but could be up to $793 per kid)
She gets $490 in food stamps
She's about $50,000 in debt on student loans
The birth is estimated to be about 8*$164,000, and the hospital has already requested state reimbursement.
The IVFs were paid for by 10 years of her own disability payments.
She plans on using more student loans to support herself, and to rely on the university's child care services.
I don't think she's crazy nor is anyone here a licensed psychologist that is capable of ascertaining that.
I think she's playing the system well, and is obsessed with children. Unfortunately, the people around her are enablers.
... yet some how she is irresponsible?
No; she may not be in violation of the law, but she certainly is making herself dependent upon society without any sign of wanting or being concerned about self-sufficiency.
It's her life.
And everyone elses money and help.

She will probably make more selling her story to the papers and chat shows. ;)

Yeah, I just heard the hospital has billed MediCal $1.3 million already. And CA is broke, anyway.
And what is bovine excrement about this story is a system that lets this happen. This wasn't an accident, but accomplished artificially by modern technology. What are the odds of octuplets in humans naturally? Vanishingly small. The idea that someone with no means of support and six other children already could do this is just insane. As such, it is a perfectly valid news story. The taxpayers need to know what's going on.
And there apparently is something to the Angelina Jolie angle. She's apparently been trying to contact and otherwise pester Jolie about all this.
No, I'm not making any clinical diagnosis nor do I claim to be, but "crazy", "ain't right in the head", "wacko", etc are valid descriptions to judge her behavior by applying common sense, self-evident, standards of appropriate conduct that any normal person can discern.
That's the trouble with this society today. Everyone is afraid to apply any of those standards for fear of being considered judgmental.

I thought I was as judgemental as the forum allowed, if not a little more so.

if you want to have 14 kids and can afford to and are otherwise able to raise them- go for it. it's none of my business.
but if you want to have 14 kids (or even 1) and have no way of affording them and are otherwise unable to raise them on your own- which you know before you have them- then it becomes my business, since i'm gonna be helping to financially support and raise those kids.

Don, it's not so much the 'judgmental' as in the manner of expressing it. The thread has gone a few steps too far into political issues, name calling, and/or layperson speculation into clinical diagnoses. Disapproval and disagreement with her situation/actions is certainly fine, but the rhetoric in general needs to be dialed back some.
But yeah, Don, you're right. Your post could be considered the high-tide line for the thread. Let's try to keep our feet dry, folks.
Consider this in the nature of guidance for the time being.
