View Full Version : Yes! Yes! And More Yes!

Well folks, back in February there was a suspicion I may have been developing early outset dementia due to observed changes in certain structures of my brain.
As of Wednesday before last the consensus after five MRI's with contrasting fluids is the changes are merely the result of 30 years of epilepsy and I'm NOT going to be crapping my nappies anytime real soon. I had already written myself off as a walking dead man. I've seen this in action. I was just waiting for the final Wednesday exams before looking at hospice facilities as I'm sure as heck not going to have my brother cleaning me up.
Sorry for not getting back to you folks sooner with the news. I've been walking around doing the Snoopy happy dance every since and just laughing out loud for no reason other than extreme relief. This stuff runs in my family and took my mother down hard and fast. Before she was even 60.
I've finally told my children what all was going on, so that's finally out of the way. They were a bit shocked. But I assured them it's all good now.
And no I didn't:
Spend lots of money I didn't have. Amazing how often that came up with various friends I let know the good news. Don't people know debt is inhertable just like profit?
Be mean to people just because. As a matter of fact I got a lot nicer to people. We only pass this way once, as the poem goes.
Participate in regrettable recreational activies. Except of course that my brother bought Fallout 3 for our Xbox 360 and in the first four days logged 56 hours of play. Got a rash on my backside as a result. (It's getting better now, thanks.)
So you guys aren't going to be rid of me just yet! Got a couple more years of posting left in me it seems.

Oh, praise be. I'm very relieved to hear that, Don. Even if I didn't like you, I'd be relieved to hear that. It's a horrible way to go, and I'm glad you aren't going to. I am also glad that you still showed sense even in a stressful situation. So few people do!

Funny thing, this internet stuff.
I'm unlikely to ever be within 1,000 kilometers of you, let alone shake your hand or buy you a beer, yet this news made me very happy.
Best wishes.

Yes; good news. I know very well how hard it is just to work out long term medical issues. But; add that to a medical issue that you can't really do much about, and it sounds scary.
And congrats for not giving in.

Big D, you are WAY too hard on yourself... Not that being prepared for the worst is a bad thing, but leave a bit of room for hope, m'kay?
Good to hear you'll still be around. A bit selfish to say, but I'd be a little depressed without a random war story popping up when least expected. :)

I've been meaning to read and respond to this thread all week. Finally got the time to do it, on my third visit to library this week.
Be careful of getting carpo tunnel syndrome in your hands or back, by gaming too much. Yeah, I'm a nag.

I dunna hhEb, the only direct correspondence I've every had with the BA he yelled at me and threatened me with a permaban. I don't think he likes me. (A tragic misunderstanding, I assure you. Tog and I were having a lengthy discussion via PM and when he posted a view in the open that sort of contradicted his point in our PM disscusion I chided him a bit. Out of context it looked like I was being a big jerk.) I still keep the PM as a reminder that this isn't my personal blog.
So you guys aren't going to be rid of me just yet! Got a couple more years of posting left in me it seems.
Very good news indeed, Don. Though I was hoping for more than a "couple more years of posting."

Nah, it's okay, I found another couple of crates of medium grade Yes in the back storeroom that somehow got mixed in with the assorted CT acronyms, large. We're good until Q3 when the resupply goes in.
Might want to go easy on the police state, extra bolds, though, we're getting a bit low. We might have to make do with police state, italics if we run out.

So should we get the thread back from hiding that we stashed for you when you though BBB might read about it prematurely?
And big congratulations from me as well.
