Who saw Titan's shadow on Saturn last night? I did with an 8 inch Newtonian. The seeing had to be good to see it. It sure was tiny.

If you did see it please indicate what size of telescope you used and time you saw it.

I saw Titan for the very first time yesterday with a homemade 10" dob borrowed from my local RASC - an instrument so heavy as to be otherwise useless.

I didn't see the transit last week but am surprised more experienced members haven't replied in the affirmative.

 I haven't seen Saturn for a while

Apart from the great compositions from other BAUTzens, here.

Thanks all around.

3 members in my astronomy club saw it. The shadow tiny and elongated since Titan was on the opposite side of Saturn and just north of the ring plane. Seeing was terrible last night where our location is in Illinois and the transit began with Saturn too close to the western horizon just before midnight CDT. Those of you in the western states had a better window of opportunity to see the elongation turn into a nice, round ball and drift across for several hours.

I used an XT-12 with a binoviewer, using a shorty barlow and two 40 mm eyepieces. Another member used a ten inch Schmidt/Cassegrain and a third used a 6 inch refractor. All 3 scopes verified the same results. Upper air turbulance in Illinois was just too unstable.

Anyone with better luck and a photo?
