Allright, I want to change my website a little bit. What do you think is important for an astronomy-site? Must it be up-to-date or a cool lay-out. Make up your mind en post your comments, please.

Thanks a lot!

It should be both! Up to date and a cool lay out! Something like Universe today

According to the guys who created Yahoo, a basic rule of thumb is that everything the user needs should be within 3 clicks of the mouse.

Cool design is fine, but it should be balanced with content. Less is more.

Please please please steer clear of MIDI files and unneccesary animations! One reason why: tacky! (Apart from the Star Wars animation I have on my own site, of course LOL!!)

Dips

I would say find a niche and then do the best job you can. There are tens of thousands of space and astronomy websites out there. Pick some part of it that interests you the most and then work on that.

Asking if it should be nicely designed or up-to-date is like wondering if a car should have an engine or wheels. :-)
