Thomas Back, the talented optical designer responsible for TMB apochromatic refractors and TMB eyepieces, has passed away after a long illness.

I met Tom years ago at Pocono Mountain Optics and would run into him from time to time at events like the NEAF and the Black Forest Star Party. It was always a pleasure to converse with him.

Rest in peace, Tom.
