Default Ep. 138: Quantum Mechanics

Quantum mechanics is the study of the very tiny; the nature of reality at the smallest scale. It's a science that defies common sense, and delivers no helpful analogies. And yet it delivers the goods, making scientific predictions with incredible accuracy. Let's look into the history of quantum theory, and then struggle to comprehend its connection to the Universe.

Smile Question re spectral analysis

Hi Fraser n Pamela ...

I really love your show ... great format and content.

My question: "When we analyse spectra from a distant object, how can we tell what spectral characteristics can be attributed to the emitting source, and what characteristics are a result of changes to the spectra caused by the emitted photons travelling though a media like a molecular or gas cloud?"

Thank You,
