In case some folks come directly to the BABB rather than the homepage, do check out the BA's blog: www.badastronomy.com/bablog
As Carl Sagan was beginning to build an appreciation of Astronomy on TV, (thanks in part to Johnny Carson,) there was also Philip Morrison. What a wise sage he was. His warm, raspy yet friendly voice was somewhat a mix of Edmund Gwinn and Yoda, and he often inspired and amazed. I first saw him, as did many kids, in the 1960s in science films shown in grade school as well as over PBS. His PBS special, "The Violent Universe," should be revised. It was full of wonders. |

"Call...for...Philip.....Morrrraasssss!" (did Shatner watch those as a kid?) Seriously, I hope he didn't. He seemed too intelligent to get hooked with such a bad habit. He will be missed. Nice writing by the BA (as always). Re Carl, he's probably turned the trio of Parsley, Rosemary, and Thyme into a quartet...
