Well, then, here's another riddle.

"I'm a saucy little number. Well, that's only half true, since I'm far from little. Who am I?"

That's not much of a clue. Saucy could be saucer and when I think of saucer I think of Saturn and it's far from little. It's probably wrong but how about another clue.

Actually, there are two clues there and they are both rather good ones. Saucy should not be taken as implying anything more than its literal meaning. Yes, Saturn is far from little and so is the object in question but vastly more so.

SALSA - A Synthesis Array for Lunar Submillimeter Astronomy

but it's not very "far from little"

are you making these questions up? Messier was a man. He made a catalog of things in the sky that included galaxies.

The answer to Dave's riddle is not a galaxy, he said that himself.

Sorry I wasn't sure if like M16 or M anything was a galaxy. I know the M stands for Meisser. I was wondering if a globular cluster is a galaxy.

those are different. A globular cluster contains as many as 100,000 stars and often galaxies contain as much as, or more than, 100,000,000,000 stars. Some of the Messier objects are galaxies, some are nebulae, and others are clusters.

For example M1 and M8 are nebulae, where 2-7 are all clusters. Open clusters are much smaller than globular clusters and more spread out. The first galaxy is M31 or Andromeda.

Hope this helps.

Time for another clue?

Vegetarians don't use this sauce.
